Well I just got done playing Far Cry. The load process was pretty fast and nice. When loading the game for the first time it takes a few mins to load, dont click again, its thinking. Once in the game it has a fairly nice layout. Graphics look pretty good for its size. The loading of each level is ridiculously slow.... The special effects in it a alil cheesy but not bad. All in all I'd give the game a 7 from 1-10. The game is on DVD (least the one I have) 3.45GB

I've seen this game awhile ago. Isn't this game also made by the creators of "Devil May Cry"?

I'd say you could do a somewhat more thorough review and have it posted in the review section.

play a wee bit more, finish it and write up a full on review if you have the time.

I'd actually really like to play this game, with all it's dynamic shadows and stuff..

hmm i should have this sometime this week so i'll let you know what i think but i'm looking forward to see how this final release is.

Could any of you maybe post screenshots in here for other users who don't own the game yet. If I see good screenshots, I might wanna get it. I know I can go to any other gaming site to see a review and screenshots, but the idea is to stay as much as possible on geeknewz

I will do screenshots in a little while.. I am installing UT2k4 on my friends pc's as well as far cry.. I want to test both games on their machines. Think it might just be my pc those games run a little slow on.

I've been playing this game today and i'm very impressed by the engine its simply amazing the dynamic shadows/light to take advantage of all this you will most likely need a pretty powerful system and vid card but it does have some great cut scenes and the graphics are beautiful. I'll post some screenshots some time today, cant comment on the game story as i havent really had time to ge through it all but I've already been in the jungle stolen a jeep equiped with a gun and had to swim to a boat.

OFF TOPIC: aah crap, i bought this one three years ago and like upgraded it as much as i could 6 months ago.

ON TOPIC : Is the game really as good as they say? Is it a story based game or just a mindless shooter?

I have the demo of far cry but i havent play it.
But it sounds cool.

I'm gonna get this baby definately... hopefuly I'll have gathered some more money by then to add more ram and if I'm REALLY lucky maybe even get a better GFX card

Here's my system, pretty average really:

XP 2100 Athalon
512MB RAM
Geforce FX 5200

With this I can play the game fine in medium, it tends to get slightly jerky say in heavy shadow bits but doesn't look too bad.

Switching it up to high definately drags the system a bit, but I may do this once I've completed the game just to see the extent of all the shadows

I'll write a review as well if anyones interested.

Two definate thumbs up points worthing saying though.. 1) Dynamic lighting is actually pretty cool, example, I killed a marine next to a floor light in a carrier, he actually fell in the light path and blotted it out

2) The AI is pretty smart, mainly because its not scripted.. there's a bit later with a helicopter which is particularly annoying as you can't tell where its going to go next.. add that to mercenaries that do different things depending on where you are and where they are in the environment (i.e. sneak up behind you etc or charge) and its a pretty fun game.

Does Far Cry have actual Pixel SHader 3.0 support or is it just for name sake and doesnt actually show improvement like some say?

Took a friend of mine 3 days to play/beat the game. It has awsome graphics and effects but if it takes 3 days to beat and its a freakin DVD sized gamed it should have lasted longer.

Depends on how good your friend is and whether or not he cheated . I finished War3 in like 15mins to get to a cutscene i wanted to see again!
