Advance Boy
I am looking for a free MP3 Editing program that lets me get rid of the long periods of nothing at the end of some of my MP3’s. Thanks in advance… cool.gif

A program called MP3 Trim is probably the easiest program that does exactly that and its free you can check it out here.

Features
What exactly can mp3Trim do for you?

* mp3Trim can trim MP3s - obviously! - removing the silence or unwanted parts.
* mp3Trim can adjust the volume of MP3s. Volume change can be manual or automatic (volume normalization).
* mp3Trim can fade-in/out MP3s (to fix abrupt beginning/ending).
* mp3Trim can clean-up MP3s and recover wasted disk space.
* mp3Trim keeps the music quality intact, no matter how many times you process an MP3, because it works directly in the MP3 format without having to decode/re-encode. That also makes it very fast.

Download MP3 Trim 1.90a

There's also a program that's in most of the linux distros too. It's called Audacity. It's open-source, for the ones who'd like to change some stuff. You can get it at sourceforge.net, here is the exact link.
I hope this helps wink.gif

rather than start a new thread i figured i'd post this here: does anyone know of a good FREE MP3 editor that allows you to add reverb effects and correct pitch AND lets you save the sound file? i've come across a few good ones but you can't save the actual files unless you register and purchase the software...

Have you googled this? I think there are some good free 'open source' ones out there, just have ta look-see, do a bit of research. I am curious what you find. I know some of the best editor sound progs are not free but because of the work involved to make such things I can understand why. I'd like to find one that will let me do 'clean-up' on old tapes and do it within my PC, like sound editing (taking out scratches etc etc), any ideas out there folks?

I have Audacity. I use it for editing tracks, nothing too intence, but cutting out segments, fade out's. ect ect... It fits my needs, maybe yours too. Its also Open-sorce which is nice for a change.

Before I downloaded Audacity I basically guess-and-tested around 1/2 dozen other open-source editing software. I was quite dissapointed in the end, but my brother (They Shoot Hoeses Dont They, & Collapsing Opposites {sorry, but I thought I'd give him a free perk, lol}) recomended Audacity (he knows as mych about computers as my toaster, but he is a musician) so I gave it a try.
