umm... good luck with a lot of them... they're really shakey some have been worked out specifically for different games... WineX is specifically designed for directx games.

works well. considered its not an emulator according to the name.

Wine Is Not an Emulator

They are pretty flakey.

when you make a statement like that, it's good to provide some supporting facts.

I'll provide some supports facts next time I want to prove or debate something. I'll pass on your advice, champ.

Well buddy, then it's baseless information. If you're ok with saying something like "it's flakey" and then not supporting it, fine. I prefer to backup what I say.

Its just a matter of tweaking all the different settings (manually) to make each different program happy, and takes forever really and is usually different for each system config so you cant really get a specialized config for a game without adapting it to your system (this is all for wine(x) I'm referring to).

I used it a looong time ago and well its best just to dual boot smile.gif although I found that by mounting the windows partition I was able to access alot of my files (I know I know thats not emulation) its realy interesting to see how Linux renders some images or plays an MP3 smile.gif

What got me thinking of this was when i was at the Apple store on Wednesday looking at the Mac software that emulates WindowsXP i read the back and it can really emulate WinXP and almost any program on a mac. The main reason i turn away from Linux most of the time its just the apps and games so i'm trying to find a solution that will convince me to switch but so far i'm thinking dual boot will be the way to go.

the linux distros will come with bundled software which will be an approximation of the stuff you're used to seeing in windows. gimp for photoshop, etc, but you may want to dual boot just for the comfort of having windows around if you get confused or lost in linux.

When i first tried to play games in linux, i had a hard time getting them to work. I use cedega now, but am trying to install the nvidia drivers and get direct rendering to work.

If you want to play games the best OS is any microsoft operating system they have the best game support. I know that it could be better, but it is the best we got.

I have been using Cedega and it is much better that wine because it will support directx games.
