If a customer called GM Helpline and was a like a customer of a new PC:

HELPLINE: "General Motors Helpline, how can I help you?"

CUSTOMER: "My car ran fine for a week, and now it won't go anywhere!"

HELPLINE: "Is the gas tank empty?"

CUSTOMER: "Huh? How do I know?"

HELPLINE: "There's a little gauge on the front panel, with a needle, and markings from 'E' to 'F'. Where is the needle pointing?"

CUSTOMER: "I see an 'E' but no 'F'."

HELPLINE: "You see the 'E' and just to the right is the 'F'.

CUSTOMER: "No, just to the right of the first 'E' is a 'V'.

HELPLINE: "A 'V'?!?"

CUSTOMER: "Yeah, there's a 'C', an 'H', the first 'E', then a 'V', followed by 'R', 'O', 'L' ..."

HELPLINE: "No, no, no sir! That's the front of the car. When you sit behind the steering wheel, that's the panel I'm talking about."

CUSTOMER: "That steering wheel thingy-- Is that the round thing that honks the horn?"

HELPLINE: "Yes, among other things."

CUSTOMER: "The needle's pointing to 'E'. What does that mean?"

HELPLINE: "It means that you have to visit a gasoline vendor and purchase some more gasoline. You can install it yourself, or pay the vendor to install it for you."

CUSTOMER: "What? I paid $12,000 for this car! Now you tell me that I have to keep buying more components? I want a car that comes with everything built in!"

funny.... absolute truth about the ignorace of some pc users... but I don't agree with the concept behind the joke... the fuel for a car is just like the electricity for a computer, no one complains about that... but just think about having to replace the motor every 2 years!

Yeah, but I don't pay $20 a week for electricity to run my computer!

I suppose, but strictly speaking fuel is to cars as electricity is to computers but how about software or games, everyone goes out and buys them without complaining...

infact the only time I have seen complaining, was when you've just blown 2000 bucks, a money you've been saving for ages, only to find that it can't run the newest game. or that the motherboard is 3 years old and you need to upgrade that before you can do anything else!

but then again, it is just a joke, I might be reading too much into it!

Nah, it's more like I found them on another website and decided to post them for a few laughs

ok seems that im still at school i wouldent no much about the big world but through the school i went on a work experience course to pc world to work in the pc clinic.

the second day their and i was talkin to the customers about their problems and this old man came in thinking that he knew everything and started talking a load of pi*h about errors from his media player (found that 1 out, he had been downloading porn from kazaa and got a virus) and then his modem wouldent work but when i asked what was actually wrong with the modem (oh he had it tower with him) he started to point to the tower as if the whole tower was the modem, he treated me like shit cause i was only 15 at the time.

i kind a got a wee bit side tracked but this was a kinda same thing as the car.

oh the problem with the modem was that his wife had disconnected the wire at the back to hoover around it. what a old ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Heheheh she might have... Reminds me of some customers I we call when I worked for an ISP "Somehow my home page got changed to www.dollhouse.com and I want to know how to change it back before my wife gets home.. oh and I dont look at porn so why did you guys change my home page ??" LOL my friend was like sir we have no controll what you have as your home page although some sites will change your home page as a joke.... (trying not to get into accusing him of stupidly clicking ok when the pop up came on about changin his home page) Anyway it was easy enough to fix and turned out to be one of my funnier calls. We had to turn off our mics so we could laugh with out making the customer mad LOL

sometimes, it's adware and spyware that hijack your homepage, and you could get those from any website/email not just from going to porn.... the same is with porn dialers... just cause they're called porn dialers it doesn't mean that they necessarily come from porn sites....

don't make assumptions about people without knowing the full story, but I guess it didn't really matter you thought about a guy you probably never will see again in your life...

I think thats the thing I will hate most about getting old. I dont mind not being able to pick the back end of a car up any more or being able to run realy fast. I would hate not being able to think right or arthritis in my hands those two things will bother me the most. I hope they have better medicine by the time im old LOL

I would hate that too, eep. Not to mention difficulty hearing. My grandpa is always saying, "I don't know what you're saying (or talking about)!" and he's just generally angry about the whole situation because he very rarely is able to hear what a person is saying.
