I know for a fact this was posted before at Geeknewz.
What's your favorite commercial?
I like most of the Saturn commercials although there's one where I picked out an inconsistency of the commercial.
There's one that I think is absolutely hilarious but I cannot remember the company name to save my life. I saw it on TechTV a long time ago when I still had cable tv. It starts out with a businessman walking down the hallway and smacks into an opened file cabinet. Then it switches to a scene where the other businessman is in a room with many other businessmen and one of the other people who was walking down the hallway as well and whitnessed the accident comes in and says, "don't worry, he told me everything" and his hand is placed on a sheet of pape, his hand slips out from under him, he hits his chin on the desktop and is supposedly knocked unconscience. Then, at the end, the businessman is left with a worried expression on his face. I think it's a commercial for a bank but I'm not entirely sure.
Also, there's these new commercials regarding identity theft that are really odd. I can remember the company name for these; Citi.
Commercials, as a whole, seem to be getting funnier. These are just the ones I find funny out of the small amount of tv I watch.

Have you seen the Jaguar commerical... I'm not sure what type it is but it's really "spiffy". It explores the inner-workings/gears of the car.

There is a recent Canadian beer commercial that I have found really funny. It kinda pokes fun at Americans so I don't know if you guys in America would like it as much...or at all...

The commercial opens with an American astronaut on the moon holding a golf club and he is telling "Houston" that he is gonna hit the golf ball...Just as he winds up to swing, a hockey puck comes flying into his face and creates many small cracks in the glass bulb part of his helmet. Then the American kinda gives off this girly cry and starts to hold his face...Then shows the Canadian astronaut holding the hockey stick...and he says, "Uh...Ottawa we have a problem..." Next shows the two astronauts sitting on lawn chairs holding the Canadian beer...Both of them are still on the moon. The glass bulb part of the American astronaut is covered with bandaids as a mean to keep his helmet from falling apart. The Canadian astronaut then says, "Sorry about that, eh?" Then the American astronaut attempts to drink the beer but further cracks his helmet when he hits it with the beer bottle...Then the Canadian astronaut snickers a little...hehe...and then the words, "I AM CANADIAN" end the commercial.

first, that nissan commercial with the barbie dolls and van halen's version of you really got me.
other one i recall enjoying was a levis commercail with this guy on a hospital bed and all the medical instuments hooked up to him started making noise and as the devices joined in they started playing soft cell's tainted love... hard to explain that one if you didn't see it. good stuff

A Pepsi Commercial, new one:
A Coca-Cola delivery truck pulls up to a stop-light. A few seconds later a Pepsi delivery truck pulls up beside it in the next lane. The Coke truck driver has "Ridin' the Storm Out" playing on the radio, and turns it way up to show off the small system to the Pepsi truck driver. The Pepsi driver chuckles, and flips a switch in the truck. The bumpers fold under and reveal chrome bumpers, and the wheels change design. A sliding door on each side of the truck (where the soda SHOULD be) lifts up and a huge set of about 8 speakers on each side show up, playing a urban type song or something. THEN, the hydraulics on the front of the truck make it bounce up off the ground about a foot. The people on the streets are like "Heeeeyyyy!" and really likeing it. The truck then drives off, and the Coke driver (still setting at the light) says "That was awsome!"
It's better if you've seen it.

Yes yes yes, I forgot to mention that one!

I've seen that one and I say it's the best, hands down (do I sound like a movie critic?

). The main reason I like it is because Coke is nothing compared to the almighty Pepsi.

Right now my favorite one is probably the one for Home Depot This kid is playing basketball with this guy in the driveway of a house then the garage opens up and the guy inside asks the other guy "who are you?" and the guy says "Im with the kids with out dads foundation who are you" the guy inside the garage says back "Im his dad...." LOL the kid then runs away real fast LOL

I don't get the pepsi ad, Coke allowed pepsi to make fun of them in their ads? couldn't coke file a lawsuit for that?

There's a weird line about that. Some commercials accually cut down other brands in their commercials, which, from my understanding, is accually allowed by law. There's a cetain extent of which they can go, but I'm not sure what they can do to cross the line...
.::PHPfanatic::.
Nov 8 2003, 06:11 AM
I don't understand those people who let commercials rule their decisions. If you like Pepsi, continue drinking Pepsi and if you like Coke then continue drinking it! Who cares what some stupid commercial tells you to do; that's the purpose. Everything has purpose and if you take away purpose you will cease to exist.
GTX5_Crusader
Nov 8 2003, 06:25 AM
You've watched Matrix too much

Well, there may be people who never heard of Pepsi or Coke (...there COULD be) and that will influence their decision.
But I agree, though. The two companies have been out so long that why would a commercial affect people's decisions on which to drink?
.::PHPfanatic::.
Nov 8 2003, 06:35 AM
Exactly, they're just too easily influenced/moldable.

It's funny but I think one company is in charge of advertising their company and the other the same. I don't think any commercials should include a competitor in their own ad. But then again, as I said, people are so moldable and might switch if they do so.

If they didn't include another product in the commercial it would always be something like "Drink Pepsi, it's better than the others" and "Drink Coke, it's better than the others".
