I guess those mac videos can be commercials.... right?

Yes, and I'd like it if they would replace or add onto the MAC Switch commercials.laugh.gif

I like the part where he is crying laying on top of the Mac LOL

that guy is a genius

I was just thinking...Those pepsi commercials with coke in them...They don't ever directly say Pepsi tastes better...In the instance of the coke truck and the pepsi truck...The only thing said about it is that the Pepsi truck is better...And the pepsi truck is not the product they are selling. I'm just thinking...Maybe there are laws that govern commericals that include the products of competitors in the US but these are like loop holes.

Hmm...But now I'm thinking...I do remember one where a Pepsi truck driver lets a coke truck driver taste a can of pepsi and then the coke driver started to enjoy it pepsi more than coke...Then later the coke driver's partner sees him drinking pepsi...Would this commercial directly imply that pepsi tastes better than coke? Great...Now I'm lost in my thinking...and therefore I'm just blabbing...
.::PHPfanatic::.
@ Kenut:
I was just talking about this after reading this post a few days ago and I tend to agree with your first paragraph, that's exactly how I was saying it. Is when he drinks the Pepsi supposed to imply that it makes he truck do what it does or what..?
Rezza
no....... I think you are not allowed to use copyrighted material/registered trademarks/patents that don't belong to you in your ads unless they agree to it.... even if you are saying that their product is better than yours!
Kenut
Hmm...Maybe since like you guys said..Coke and Pepsi has been around so long, a commercial isn't going to make a difference in terms of a consumer's choice...Therefore Coke probably looks at this as free advertisement.

But if these commercials don't work then why does Pepsi bother with it?
GTX5_Crusader
Too much money and no where else to spend it.

There's one that I think is absolutely hilarious but I cannot remember the company name to save my life. I saw it on TechTV a long time ago when I still had cable tv. It starts out with a businessman walking down the hallway and smacks into an opened file cabinet. Then it switches to a scene where the other businessman is in a room with many other businessmen and one of the other people who was walking down the hallway as well and whitnessed the accident comes in and says, "don't worry, he told me everything" and his hand is placed on a sheet of pape, his hand slips out from under him, he hits his chin on the desktop and is supposedly knocked unconscience. Then, at the end, the businessman is left with a worried expression on his face. I think it's a commercial for a bank but I'm not entirely sure.

A few days ago I saw a different commercial for the same company I was describing and the name is Computer Associates.

My favorites consist of two since I can't remember many "good" ones, if they exist.

It was maybe the year 1998 (Brazil vs. France) and I had just started to get my taste of FIFA World Cup. And there it was, a Nike commerical centered around the all-time favorite and unstoppable Brazilian team. It had quite a catchy beat too: Ohhhhhhhhhhh a-li-ah o'bah o'bah o'bah.
Where all of the team suddenly receives the urge to play soccer INSIDE (and out) the AIRPORT TERMINAL! It was hilarious.

The second would have to be the lastest Nike Gridiron commercial. It's just awesome for CGI. The Matrix should take a hint or two from those guys. Especially one scene where Owens makes the break-away right before he has to jump over two oncoming defenders. The feet's contact on the iced ground is just unreal. And then when I thought they could do no more the opposing team PICKS UP AND THROWS THEIR GATORADE TUB AT OWENS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was laughing like armaggedon was around the corner and there was no tommorow. That commercial really was good to see.

Also there are those Nike "Chicken" commercials which were fun and quite good too.

Uh-oh. Nike triggered another memorable commercial:
When one guy is like on the 10th floor, let's say, and while he's making out with his girlfriend she drops her purse. So he takes it upon himself to rappel down without any gear; with just the use of his hands... and Nike shoes, of course. wink.gif
From here it gets very hard to describe, but it was well worth watching.
.
Okay, I'll describe. He rappels, as if he were on a mountain or something, by jumping to the lower floor's railing's edge. Mind you they're concrete.
so he jumps from | o| here
to here |o | then
to | o| here
and so on....
He finally gets back up to the top. This time through the use of stairs. And they start to make out again when suddenly...(yup, you guessed it) she dropped her purse AGAIN.
And...if you wanted to make-out again, you'd do exactly what this guy does and rappel back to the bottom again. wub.gif biggrin.gif

Yeah and the Nike Basketball "Beat" commercial was good until it got played out. Damn I want to watch it again. laugh.gif *Damn the addictiveness of "good" commercials*

Is it just me or do I sense a Nike trend going on? unsure.gif

here in the Philippines: i like the commerical of GLOBE Telecom and the NIKE

Has anyone seen the Meijer commercial where somebody feeds a little girl spinach and she says, "Yuck", then he feeds her the Meijer brand and she says "Yuck!". At the end it says, "The only difference you'll notice is the price", which couldn't be more true.

Commercials seem to be growing funnier and funnier.
On Friday night I saw one for Circuit City. The man enters the kitchen as her wife and wife's friend start to walk out the door. He says, Going shopping again... I'd imagine you'll take all day". Then, as they're walking out the door they say, Probably, we are going to Circuit City. His eyes bug out as he runs into another room, I better get my comfortable shoes!

I really liked that one.

I saw.. errr... heard one on the radio, it went like this:

[voiceover] a party at chang's place
[chang - asian accent] Hey guys, you wanna check out my computer, I've got some extra ram

[voiceover] ehem.. a party with chang at extreme party planet
[background music]
[chang] Hey guys, you wanna check out my computer, I've got some extra ram

[voiceover] urm, okay, so maybe chang's not the biggest party animal but guess where he is this week and "edge" will give you 3 free passes to party island with chang, tune in for more details....

or something like that, obviously these guys have never heard of lan parties...dry.gif

I love those computer store commercials. biggrin.gif

my favorite would have to be a tie between the Quizno's sub commercial with the "what, were you raised by wolves?", "yes, i was....hm" and the geico commercial with the two squirrels, but only the version where they leave in the end where the squirrels finish their hand slapping with the two-handed point.
.::PHPfanatic::.
I don't think I've seen the Quizno's commercial but have seen the Geico one HAHA.

There was this great beer commercial here for a national beer called QUilmes. It was like a story, a dude who ran out of beer and goes out to find it, ends up making out with his love in a bar. But the whole commercial is sung from different known songs that actually have to do with the story. It is rather neat.

Well as I'm sitting here at my computer this new Chevrolet ad keeps coming on. I'd only seen it once up to this point but through a few hours it's probably come on about 4 times.

First a Corvette comes (it sounds great) and drives onto a moving car carrier. This is all the ad consists of but it's really neat. One thing my dad noticed (and me later) that he wished they would fix is when the SSR does a 180 deg turn and backs up, with respect to the road, it doesn't look right but seems like it would be hard to fix.
LordKwiKSilva00
anyone seen the one for staples yet???

starts out a guy takes a yellow highlighter and colors his face yellow...walks into the boss and says he isnt felling well...boss sends him home...comes up with the staples logo and says that staples offers everything you need for a day at the office...then it shows the guy that colored his face yellow talking on the phone with another guy...seems the other guy tried it too, but used a pink highlighter instead...guy tells the other one "he didnt buy it"...first guy says "i wonder why, you used pink" tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif hehe

With respect to the road??... Do you mean the car lined up perfectly with the road after the 180?
.::PHPfanatic::.
Sorry, it was fairly late and night and Staind music was playing in the background on Conan. What I meant to say (simply) is that the car/truck doesn't look like it's going fast enough when it goes into reverse.

@LordKwiKSilva00: I haven't seen that one but it sounds funny.

I haven't had the time to read this entire thread so please forgive me if someone else had posted this...But yesterday I saw this ad which opened with Timmy and Lassie...black and white.... So we start with Timmy calling for Lassie...Then Lassie appears...They start walking in the forrest or something. Then suddenly outta no where...A female lion like animal appears and threatens Timmy and Lassie. Suddenly Lassie starts doing all these karate moves a la Matrix style...His moves end with Lassi posing similar to how Neo does and then waves his hand in a "come here" motion. The female lion like animal's jaw drops and runs away. The commercial then closes with the company's name...It's a security company. laugh.gif

Watching Lassie do all those karate moves...was just priceless.
.::PHPfanatic::.
That's the one! Definitely my alltime favorite.

That Quiznos sub commercial is really funny, but also annoying. I would hope they don't show it constantly like some commercials.
.::PHPfanatic::.
I just saw the Jet Li: Rise to Honor preview... really neat.
Trailer, that should be it, not knowing since it would take awhile to download. Sympatico ranks it the #2 trailer.
.::PHPfanatic::.
I like the SBC unlimited long distance commercials ("can you ever call too much?"). I also find the new Best Buy commercial funny with the puppet (I'm free... I'm free...)

I was just reminded of the GE commercial where the geeky guy is married to a supermodel. It shows them taking a walk on the beech and he runs away from the waves haha.
