You need to go to Tools --> Folder Options --> View and make sure that the option "Show Hidden Files and Folders" is checked, while the "Hide protected operating system files folder" is unchecked. Only then will you see your dllcache folder. Alternatively you can simply type in C:\WINDOWS\system32\dllcache in the Address bar of your Explorer. |

its been a while since I've done this could someone give me directions to installin this or a link to somewhere where it does (couldnt find any through any of those links). Thanks.
Delete the dllcache folder or only the dll's you wish to edit. Boot into safe-mode (F8) and copy the dll's included in the file to %systemroot/system32.
hmm, didn't work.... couldnt delete the whole folder so just deleted the ones in the gant file, was I supposed to extract ALL the files to the system32 folder including the iexplorer and those files?

hmm.. it sort of worked at least, it changed the my music, my pictures, my videos little icon things in the bottom right but thats it. Also once I rebooted into normal I got the protectino thing asking for my xp cd, so had to do that (was I not supposed to and just cancel it all?) Also I deleted the whole dllcache folder, maybe I should try again and just delete the ones Im replacing.
Yes you should have -- cancelled protection message. This will replace the original dllcache files which you don't want. Redo.
hmm, just redid it, I think it patched a couple more things but still doesn't seem to be all of em, oh well.
dunno if u tried this or not but open TweakUI and go to Repair >> Repair Icons AFTER installing and rebooting the shell32 pack,

nope.... still no go... still cant seem to get the explorer buttons to switch. I think it has something to do with using SP2 for a little bit, cause now my version number is kinda screwy. Oh well its no big deal, thanks though guys.
i just did this recently using a app called "replacer" it runs a little window where you just pick the files and it does a swap esentially you rebote and its done. you can give that a shot maybey youll have better luck. however im guessing your right with the sp2 thing.
