Labatt Brewery, from Ontario, Canada, has been giving out free long distance phone service. But, all the members of this service must listen to a 10 second advertisement each time they dial out. When you get a busy signal, pull up CNET and read on:

"Thanks to cheaper Internet phone dialing, Labatt Brewery was able to offer a free long-distance phone service to thousands of residents of Ontario, Canada.

"There was just one catch: every time any of the 1,000 new subscribers a day dialed out, they had to listen to a 10-second Labatt commercial. "It's not as cheesy as 'This call brought to you by Labatt,'" a company spokesman said.

"Companies that provided the technology that made BlueLine possible say this is only the beginning. More retailers and progressive marketing companies are embracing VoIP dialing as another avenue to reach customers."

for those who can't afford regular service, this isn't a bad idea.

the main reason I have my cell phone is because my girlfriend lives in hawaii and I need the free long distance.

Sometimes I think Cell Phones are alot cheaper than a home phone if you call long-distance alot. I live in Pittsburgh and everyone else I know lives about a 2 hour drive away, so a Cell Phone comes in handy (Now all I need to do is get one!)
