I'm very interested in this player that's can store up to 800 mp3's now i just want all the dirt so if anyone has more info on the upcoming apple mini ipod let me know. Links or pics would even be better.

I posted one story on the front page here.

I had heard that the rumors were false and that Apple isn't planning any smaller iPods.

hmm could be but it would seem like a good idea to fill in the gap for people who dont want to put out the money for ipod... rumors spread like wild fire on the net so i wouldnt be surprised

I just found this on Slashdot I would have posted it as news but there has already been so many stories on it I felt I should be here for those who are interested smile.gif (also its just a rumor as far as I know)

from the melts-in-your-mouth dept.
squiggleslash writes "One of the aspects of the '2G mini-iPod' rumour that's so far made it unlikely is the lack of a tiny, cheap, 2G, drive. Well, today Cornice has announced a 2G hard drive (PDF, 100k) that fits the bill. It's available for about $70 in lots of 100,000. The Mac Rumour sites are going faily nuts over this for obvious reasons. The reason the drive is so cheap is that it contains virtually no driver electronics, there's not even a memory buffer - this is the equivalent of a 1980's RLL or MFM drive. At $70 it seems unlikely that the mini-iPod, assuming it's announced tomorrow, will be under $100, but on the other hand the original iPod sold for the same price as the harddrive inside it. Here's hoping..."

seems like it was officialy annouced today at macexpo smile.gif posted the info on the front page. quick run down its coming in 5 colors price will still be expensive at $249 4Gb ... interesting thing is they will phase out the 10Gb and replace it with a 15Gb for the same price of $299 sounds good to me ... shame the mini-iPod wont be closer to the $100 mark like M$ Agent said but i'm sure they may introduce a 2Gb version in the future for $100 ... who knows i just want the 40Gb to go down in price but it doesnt seem like its going to anytime soon hehehe smile.gif

I'm still dying to have a look at the mini/specs pics and colors

40 GB lol I dont know how many MP3 songs that is but im sure its about 39 GB more then I have.... I would be totaly satisfied with a iPod that had like 256MB on bourd and had a slot for Flash cards to be added (they make those up to 1 GB now and I heard 2GB isnt far off...) Well Actz if you get one of those 40 GB ones tell me how you like it (although im sure you will love it as evry single review I have read of it says its better then sliced bread LOL) I was just hopeing to get a smaller cheaper one that had the same ergonomics smile.gif

It weighs less than two compact discs and, as well as storing music, holds digital camera images and can be used as a dictation machine and alarm clock. Music is loaded on to the device from an Apple computer or a PC.

Neat. I would never need a portal device that was capable of storing 10,000 songs; no way no how. Do they know the length of each song, no, hmm I suppose that's assuming the average length of a song (whatever that may be). Anyway, the point is that this would parallel my function (form fits function). It's considerably cheaper than the larger ipod and I would like one but I have very little songs I listen to.

I was also going to ask what £65 is in US dollars but noticed that M$ already asked on the frontpage article (about $100). The larger ipod is $615 then... wow, I'd much rather add that to my savings for an Alienware system (if I had a savings anyway hehe).

Ahh yes but if you had 615$ to spend on a super large capacity iPod you could store just about every song ever written by man in your pocket ! lol
actz
i guess you could delete all songs of your computer and just play them right off your ipod if you get a big one ... it will be like an extra hd hehehe the mini souds great but i think they should at least drop it $50

Yes this is the 2GB, not the 4GB. It's all a little confusing to me too, actz.
