I used to get on the computer ALOT just to play games. Back in the day, after school and some other things that need done, I would get on the computer at about 8pm-11pm and play all the way until about 5am (if I didn't have school the next day, if I did, I would only play until about 12am).
Now, most of my time on the computer is spent here

. I also look for Anime downloads (such as episodes and movies) and more. Once I get my OWN computer, I'll be working on ripping movies from all the Final Fantasy games, as well as many other Playstation games that have FMVs.

I dun hate the computer. Sometimes I think I do but then I look outside to the world of lies, deceit, hatred, hypocricy. The fact that a good friend could stab you in the back, that your family could abandon you, that you could lose your job. THen the computer feels JUST fine.

Well I'm on the computer anytime I have an open schedule, which is almost always (at least in my mind it is).
Mon-Fri: At school from 7:40 to 2:35 (I had to think quite a bit), finish any school-related things and work on my computer the rest of the time. Oh yes... I also eat. I usually go to sleep sometime around 11:30P but it's extremely difficult to tear myself away.
Sat-Sun: All the time, excluding eating of course (maybe from around noon to 1A. When I was living in Texas I stayed up much later because family members weren't always walking around.
Sure, sometimes my computer gets on my nerves and I think, "I'm not going to work on my computer for a few days", but that quickly changes and I always know it will. Configuring my winmodem is really troubling and I've been trying to patch it for 2 years or so (however long I've had Mandrake). That's not to say it doesn't continue to interest me.

@GTX: No one in my family would ever say such a thing to me but I do know what you mean. I'm not usually very talkative (especially lately) so there's no reason for anyone to call me a moron at school.

this isnt so much an addiction to my computer persay but more of a "fear" of missing a message or something, I used to wear my headphones to bed in case someone messaged me while I was sleeping rarely happened but when it did the funny thing was I'd get up and tell them they woke me up haha. I dont do that anymore cause now all I have are my big CS headset headphones with microphone (and its in the other room). Oh well... I'm a geek

I'm constantly at my computer because I chat with all of my friends that are scattered around the world. The problem is that I've got friends from Australia to Peru, so at all hours of the day there is somebody on and I don't want to miss chatting with them. Every so often when I fly (and that takes a couple of days from here to Peru) I start to miss my computer so much because I can't chat.

Chatting with friends is good, and yeah the computer is always missed. You are fortunate though to have a laptop to take around. Then you dont have to miss it so much!

I guess it's more that with a computer you can do more than in real life very easily... that's why it's so addiciting.
Plus, where else can I talk to people from other parts of the world for the low price of internet and not have to pay long-distance phone bills?
MiSuNdErStOoD
Jan 7 2004, 06:43 PM
I would have to agree with you gtx who needs longdistance when you have the net
Deftone
Jan 7 2004, 07:20 PM
you have quite a point there. PLus on the internet you can either trully be yourself or be someone completely different, thats what makes it fun. It is the only place where u can trully open yourself up to be who you trully are...or pose to be someone completely different that people will still think is you, without them ever finding out the truth. That plus theres perks like hacking, piracy, etc..which make it better even

Hmm... my computer... I use it way too much! I'm also a person that always has to do something with her hands, so the keyboard with so many buttons gives me something to do, for all my fingers. I try to limit myself as much as I can, but over the weekend I might as well have the computer physically attached to me, because I don't leave it.
Deftone
Jan 8 2004, 04:35 PM
heh. That is why always be proud to be a geek! And im sure you would enjoy having ur computer attached...never leave it out of ur sight!
.::PHPfanatic::.
Jan 8 2004, 11:20 PM
@LiNx: You remind me of my brother, he is constantly figetting with his hands. It's the same keys that he would press in order to play some song on the piano over and over again. It seems like that would drive a person crazy (it would tire my fingers I would think) but I have obsessive compulsive things (twirling my hair...for some odd reason) I do as well and it's just a bg process.
Anyway, something related to how often I use my computer...
I think about it all the time when I'm at school because I don't have access to a computer. At my incredibly nice old school I'd go to the LiveWire instead of eating all the time.
