Thought Id get this started since no one else has, here's mine and yep again went with the dark scheme same longhorn gray plex or whatever style with a kUMBS theme on Trillian Pro, forgot what the skin on WMP is called then some of the icons that come default with icon packager and the badboy linux penguins... now i know thats kind of sacraligious (wow thats really wrong but oh well) but it was my background on red hat for a while and I really liked it so I moved it here so poo on you. anyway here you go....

nice redsquirrel i like the bg image has a matrix feel but blue ... my desktop has gone back to the dissaster it once was. So in other words a huge mess i'm going to format and reinstall winxp soon so i'll do something worth posting then.
edit: Troa what are you using for the right bar and just wondering what skin on wmp looks nike hehe i like the bg
Troa34
Jan 6 2004, 10:56 AM
the bar on the right is just Trillian Pro v2 with my contacts collapsed with kUMBS skin or somethin like that. Umm the skin I got from Skin Factory I think they have a lot of pretty nice ones there. Then the background is from kdelook.org and is actually transparent other than the penguins and their shadows which you cant see cause I'm using black but with that said, very versatile in what they could go with, they also come with a blueish background.

Here's mine :
My January 2004 DesktopThe theme is called GelLed, not made by myself, but I can't remember where I got it from, and the background is actually made by me, with photoshop.

I like that background other than the "stars" they look too blocky and fake. Maybe you could use a fade or blend tool to help lower the contrast of them with the black background and help them blend in better just a suggestion.

Thanks. I never resolved the shell32.dll editing problem with Reshack so that's a tad frustrating.
You keep complaining about not having access to your computer... that's a pity.

Well... since everyone else is using Bangbang's great wallpapers (thank you very much by the way) Im using the Deep color scheme one, along with ButZ visual style and the GANT icon set Yz Dock etc etc, I feel like I'm copying everyone haha, but I like it I'm sure it'll be different in a week or so but might as well post it now while its sort of finalized....

Whenever I edit an icon and view shell32.dll again it will be set back to the default icon again.
Your desktop is very nice, bangbang, so is yours troa.

I've added KL++ in between Opera and Recycle Bin and moved them down so that they are right on the border of the blue gradient. I've also applied the GANT Shell32 tweak (mydocs, SHDOCVW, shell32, url, zipfldr).

Very nice looking desktop, rockman.
What Rainlendar skin is that?
rockman56
Jan 22 2004, 01:43 PM
it's just something i whipped up myself

and as for your shell32.dll problem, the best way to change it is after you are done editing it in reshack, use the 'save as' option and name it something like shell32.new, then navigate to the x:\windows\system32 then rename the old file shell32.old then rename the new one shell32.dll...just cancel any messeges from windows that pop up...
oh and make sure to delete the shell32.dll file from the folder called dllcache before you change anything or it'll just overwrite the changes that you've made
.::PHPfanatic::.
Jan 23 2004, 12:12 AM
The shell32 resource editing is no longer a problem because I'm using the GANT shell32 set file.
Hacks mydocs, shell32, SHDOCVW, zipfldr, and url.dll.
I had tried deleting shell32.dll from dllcache and it was, once again, reset to default.

Very nice desktop, troa.
I like the Shadow Rainlendar theme better than the one I'm using, Moderna, which I always thought was the best they come. I'm going to download Shadow; the two look very similar.

mmmm, thats not the one I'm using, thats just one I had for like 30 minutes. Too laggy with desktopx. The one in my post is the one I was using I actually switched again haha. Found an Olive Reluna skin for my trillian so I switched to that. No more blue. I'll wait a while to post it though if I keep it that is.
