Heya all! *waves*

A bit of new (?) stuff/info fer y'all Today I somehow ended up with a silly but persistant 'antivirus' spyware that really pissed me off. Not only did it do a fake scan it also wouldn't leave when told to, and kept trying to coerse me into saving its files. WaPOS in my limited opinon thumbsdownsmiley.gif .

Google 'Antivurus 2008' and its variables, BAH!

A word of warning though, beware of the 'free removal' sites as some of them seem as bad as the percieved threat. In fact a couple I went to seemed to have many of the same sponsors. Hmmmmmm.

Anyone else seeing this or am I just pissing at nothing? wacko.gif

Do stick to the well known and reliable removal tools like SpyBot S&D, and Ad-Aware (lava soft), etc. and beware of the many repackaged 'anti-spy-ware' programs out there that are just giant advertisements that are spyware themselves, they can be a real pain, and a hard tick to remove., I recall 'MightyMouse' (sic ? ) as one that people had fun with. Remember to do your research before downloading any 'cure-all' removal programs too(there aren't too many out there that are reliable imho), go do a search on the brand name and search 'problems' etc., you'll be surprised.

Just a bit of a heads up and I'm curious for other's stories and info regarding this, so post away! smile.gif

Hmm... never heard or seen of this... then again, I haven't had spyware or viruses in my system for months now, so I'm not up to par with the latest problems out there today.

Oh, and Hi. I'm still around :P
