i wanted to see if i could build a pretty decent computer with only 500 dollars. so instead of buying all new parts i harvested parts from some old computers i had lying around. i found a dual core pentium d 860 processor that was in prefect condition and that wasn't being used and used it in this project. I ended up buying a new case, asus motherboard, 19" LCD flat pannel monitor, ati video card and brand new speakers.

now heres the issue..

i put everything together, no problems, nothing. but when i check the bios my cpu is running at 80+ degrees celsious [in idle!] it's brand new cpu fan, even added 3 more fans just to keep things on the cool side. but my cpu is still regestering at 80+ degrees. i either thinks its that i was sloppy with the cpu paste, or that i was to stingey with the cpu paste. thats all i can think is the problem right now.

any sugestions on why its regestering at such a high temp? [ oh, its in a well vented area, so i doubt thats the problem ]
