I'm currently running Windows XP and Media Player version 11.0.5721.5230...I'm fairly certain my XP is updated as well.

Lemme illustrate my media player problem through an example...

I double click a video file to watch. Doesn't matter what format. Sometimes media player will open normally and other times it will appear nothing has happened but I hear audio. When that happens I go to my start menu to click for the media player and then it appears and it's already playing the video file. Then when I go to close it and this happens all the time...I click the "x" to close it and then media player disappears as it should but I still hear audio. So what I do now is I have to press the "stop" button then the "x" button. But what the "x" button appears to be doing now is basically just remove it from my vision but the task doesn't actually stop.

For example, I can't delete the video file I played even after I hit "x" to close media player because it's still accessing the video file. What I do now is I open another video file then go back delete the one I want deleted...

Anyone else have this problem? Or heard of this problem? Anyone know what I can do about it? I'm thinking uninstalling wmp and reinstalling...But I'd rather not if there was an easier fix as my idea wouldn't guarantee a fix either.
