Next month i'm thinking of buying my iPod 40GB which is long over due. I was supposed to get it this month but I ended up buying much better speakers for my PC then I originaly planed. Now I havent heard of any new iPod coming out or the next new iPod but I also havent been online for the last 2 month so has anyone hear anything.
I dont want to go out and buy the iPod 40GB and then a month later the new model with color screen, divx playback, mobile phone integrated model comes out hehe of course that wont happen but has anybody heard of future Apple plans with the great iPod?

You've about covered it. The video playback is going to be the major enhancement. Myself, I'm probably going to get a Nomad Zen once my employee discount kicks in at work.

It's an APPLE!!!

Well, I guess some newer Apples aren't too bad... They're good for videos and... that's about it...
Oh well...

The iPod is a great music player, but it costs an arm leg, and 3/4 of your liver.

But what if you're stuck with a 56k connection like me, then what.

Hmmm.... 40Gb worth of songs you can take anywhere...... That sounds like a portable CD player and about 100 music CDs...... all in one little space

When I was running a 28.8k connection (I'm on cable now! WEEEEE!), I downloaded about 12Gb in 2 years..........

Nov 5 2003, 03:42 AM
Do you know what your average usage was during those 2 years? That would be interesting but I doubt you'd know what it was...

It would run for 8-10 hours a day, continuous, at a constant rate of about 3/kbps (bytes). There were very few times that the connection would be shut down for more than a day. About the only thing that killed it would be a power outage. There were alot of times when I had 2 phone lines that it would run for several days at a time (the longest I can remember continuous was about 6 days straight). So, there was a good chance it ran for about 290 days a year, give or take some.

Yeah, I couldn't get cable where I lived at either... well, I could, but it would cost ALOT extra if we had the company run a line out (about 2 miles).
After awhile though, I got used to waiting 1 1/2 months for a movie to download

Just read that Sony is going to release a music/video player to compere with the iPod and the base model is only going to sell for about $60

Wow, that's a big improvement over the price of the iPod; although I'd rather much rather buy an Apple over a Sony anyday.

That's amazing, my connection will stay connected for maybe 8 hours then it disconnects and reconnects what I believe as being immediately after, although I'm not sure since it usually re/disconnects while I'm asleep. My ISP is Access4Less and it's unbelievably cheap, $5.95/mo, I'd still give absolutely anything for a cable connection.

Maybe I'm not fit to be a moderator because I never tell anyone to get back on topic but instead join in myself, and this is off-topic too. Plus, bangbang will always move, edit or close a thread way quicker than I am capable of.

Aren't you happy with your MD actz? I am extremely happy with mine likre 5 or 6 cds per disk with MDLP4 Attrac3 and those disks are nearly indestructable not to mention the digital/analog input for recording live (if musician) although the ipods are cool I will stick with my Mini disk for a while

ya my minidisc is a old one and also my 3rd minidisc so its taken a beating. It works fine but I want something that i can fit over 100 cd's not just 3 or 4. Another thing about the ipod is you can use it as a hd so if you want to move around files to a friends pc its done with no problem.
The new sony player sounds cool but i wonder how big the hd is.

ROTFLMAO Well I heard they do have the best MP3 player but I heard somethings about a software mod for the Nomad that turns it into something else or enhances it somehow. Read this month CPU magazine to find out more ! lol
