Ok my office computer is creating 200 plus instances of rundll32. About every 3 seconds it creates another one. I have run spybot and norton internet security 2006 both updated with latest updates and still no progress. Can anyone give me a specific remedy for my computer sickness? All help is appreciated... Thanks. thumbsupsmiley.gif

what you should probably do is search for "rundll32.exe" and "rundii32.exe" on your system, and if you find any "rundll32.exe" files outside of the windows directory, there's probably something wrong, and if you find any "rundii32.exe" files anywhere, there's definitely something wrong as well. You might want to do some kinda online virus scan too. Google for some, there are plenty of them available.

You mentioned Spyware detection and Firewall software but not anti-virus software. Do you have an anti-Virus application? Run that and see what comes up.

Norton Internet Security has antivirus included it ran a scan and found nothing. I found no rundii32.exe or rundll32.exe in my system files. Is there a way to reinstall windows xp without losing programs and files?

Try Trends Online Virus Scan,

Trend Housecall

Hope this helps.

Hiya and welcome to GNz. I was curious so I ran rundll32 on the Sophos data base and came up with 26 pages of possibilities.

Sounds like you could have (EEK!) worms. Mr Pink's advice is a good idea. Good luck and let us know what you find, it could help others in the future.

download and run avg antivirus uninstall norton and any other virus software you have install or running if you have two running at the same time it just won't work so download the avg antivirus software from girsoft.com the free edition. and now they also have a free spyware software to scan and remove spyware now all from www.grisoft.com that should take care of that rundll32.exe
