I'm thinking of buying a digital camera in the next week. Anyone have one they can suggest looking of a 6.x or 7.x mpixel .... I've been looking at Sony or Casio just not sure what to go for.

Been looking at various cameras over the last few years and in the over 5mega pixal range within a decent cost (or bang for the buck) I'd go for the Sony models, their support and software is fairly good. Others to consider are HP and Cannon, though the cannons will run high end esp if you go for SLR models. But it sounds like you don't need quite that, the Casios are ok, personally I don't like their software. The HP units (esp. some of their older models), were nice solid machines, buying older ones is a driver nightmare unless ou get the discs, which is what I recommend for any second hand units. Though you can find the drivers for free it is a pita for most. Unless you are going to be doing posters or something of that ilk, around 3 mp should be enough for all your requirements, and Sony is dumping their last years models at decent prices here (ie. 2.5nmp with flashes for around 200US). Many others in the under 400cdn range that will fill most people's needs. You have to make a choice and be sensible about what your needs are, what you're doing and how long you'll be doing it. Personally I am still using a pos Sipix by a RadioShack (640x400 cmos memory, rem it takes power to keep the images) affiliate for over 4 years, it ain't much but for printing up to 8x10 pics and posting on the web it is sufficient. Many people get sucked into over-kill and quite frankly anyone using more than 5mps cameras for just photos are waisting their money unless they have particular professional applications, like posters or hig-resolution prints. I could go on but I won't right now unless some asks me a Q, so for now this is my opinion fer da night.
Cheers,
Serge

Well for around the $200US range...i'd recommend
Canon A530 is probably one of the best for $200 or less. For a bit more you could get an A610/A620 or Sony W30/W50
All very well rated camera's
Here is a place to see some reviews on Digital Camera's

http://www.steves-digicams.com/I have the Canon A530, great camera, the picture quality when printed is REALLY nice, but on the screen compaired to the Canon Rebel XT, or other semipro-pro cameras...it falls short...
If you want a budget point and shoot, i'd recammend it.
