I was looking for goo goo doll sites because they are one of my favorite bands to listen to in any mood and came across this site.

"sell out bands"

This girl goes on to write a very interesting article on bands and how they have to grow up sometime. I think that true music fans should go check out this site. To think that teens actually sit down and think of things like this.

I hate people who say the band sells out. If they make the same stuff over and over, it is no longer fulfilling to them or their fans. They have to change. I hear it about my favorite band, Staind, all the time. You know, apparaently his fans want the man to be miserable his whole life, but it's not going to happen. As he grows as a person, so does the music he writes. Simple as that.

Any band that is signed to a major record label is a sell out. This pseudo notion of it being about the music is a lie.

So someone doing something they love and being good enough to get paid for it is a sellout? That's just complete BS.

No, that's not what snocked means. If you are signed to a major label, then you don't have the freedom to make the music you want to make. There are limits, because the label doesn't want to waste money on you. So or you have to change your style or whatever, or you have the same ideas about music as your label.

The thing I hate most is when bands change just so they can "sell out" and become more appealing to the mainstream fans. Bands that already have deals with the lesser labels and have a great fanbase already and arent splattered across Mtv and mainstream radio. I hate going to shows and festivals that used to be underground and only appealed to the die hard fans, now you go to the warped tour and you get all the teenie boppers there just to see New Found Glory and Good Charlotte and have no idea who any of the others are and just walk by the stages, start whining when the crowd begings moshing around them and get hurt, its what its about. The way I see it a song/album is good or its not, doesn't matter who it is or what their previous or next album was like. I hate when people hear a crappy song and then despise all of the artists material because of it.

Correct, it's about making money and putting a product out that will sell. Why do you think almost all the songs follow a verse-chorus structure? rolleyes.gif

I just hate it when people say a band sells out as soon as they make it big not because their music is worse but just because they made it to the next level.

I agree somewhat with was snocked mentioned above but depending on the genre and who they are signed with can really effect things. This is the main reason why some artists have their own production company and record label I guess.

If a band brings something out that is the same thing they already have or it's no good... I just won't get it...

they are probably good reasons why most people ppl dunt buy things huh.gif

That's why I think people download most of their music, so that way they get what they want, and not anything extra.
