Sooooooooooo a week or two ago,

My boss Mike was having trouble converting a wav file to a mp3. Easy, WMA, just adjust a setting, easy-schmeasy-done. So after that I went to help him email the mp3, but there was some sort of issue and I did something (I didnt think I did anythnig wrong? but apperiently I did, sad.gif ). First of all I have no idea exactly what I did, it wasn't anything complicated, I just forgot. But now whenever he sends attachments of any decent sizes (mostly mp3's) they get sent in parts.

Heres an examply of a message title:
instead of:
"The Pillocks new track"

I recieve:
"The Pillocks new track 1/32"
"The Pillocks new track 2/32"
"The Pillocks new track 3/32"
"The Pillocks new track 4/32"
"The Pillocks new track 5/32"
"The Pillocks new track 6/32"
"The Pillocks new track 7/32"
..............

Does anyone know waht I did, and how to resolve this issue? (His bands name is The Pillocks)

Thanks
MrPink

Mr. Pink, though I haven't looked into your specific problem one thought comes to mind, that is that most e-mail attachments seem to limited to around 1Mb, so if you're trying to send something larger it may be breaking it down by default, this is if you're not sending a link to a host server for downloading. Just a thought man, I have zero experience sending music as attachments but I thought I'd get the ball rolling fer ya! Am curious about this too, like can you zip or compress audio files fro transfer? dunno. btw that was a hilarious Cheers episode, great logic (sort of) in a warm fuzzy sort of way, now where the heck did I put my beer?

*sigh* maybe one of the wonderful mods could merge this mess for me? Look into yousendit.com for e-mailing large files (up to 25Mb I believe). Thats it man, made enough of a mess of this thread, I go now. Still curious though for what others have used or come up with.
Cheers!

What were you sending e-mails with? Also, it's true that most mail servers have a maximum attachment size, which is usually 10MB nowadays.

Hey hey hey,

I just got back from a weekend of camping on the sunshine coast, weather was quite wet, but camping was still fun however. The base of Mt. Elphinstone is a good place to be smile.gif. Anyways, unfortunatly, the solution is still yet to be found. I know OE has a size limit on emails, but the files were mp3's and below the limit (3MB-4MB), also, he has sent files that size before and it worked just fine.

Thanks for looking into it Serges.

my bro, ' Big Rob' , an infrequent but wise member here, spent some quality time this weekend with me, and the rest of my disfunctional family. Anyhoo, I asked him of yur problem and he said a very bright thing, and that was that it was not the sender, but the reciever. If I am not mistaken there is a setting in your IT options that changes 'how' your mail is recieved, I would maybe go check that out mon. If I understood it properly (and I am sure I shall be corrected) it is something like 'Recieve E-mails as package', now, I could be just drunk and misunderstanding this, and running a dino OS I can' find it, but in XP there are hidden options from what I barely comprehend. Please let us know if you have resolved this or are still having problems..... we can, and shall, dig deeper.
Cheers Mon!

Serge

I have a very good feeling you are right Serges. no noe else has complained of this issue (of the people Mike sent the mp3's too). It very well may be my problem. I tried searching for some sort of option all over and couldn't find 'Recieve E-mails as package' or something along those lines, but I will keep searching.

Thanks for the help

Hey no probs, I am wracking my brain here trying to remember what exactly he said and to no avail, but I think it is like you browser options where there is a vertical list with boxes you check or not. One of those gives you a 'how your attachments are' file type thing. Oh lordy will someone else please jump in here and give the man a hand LOL!
rolleyes.gif I'll give him a holler tomorrow and either get his opine or get him back here, sheesh. tongue.gif Could maybe trade you guys ph nos as he is in Ladner, I will ask him if its ok if ok wit you, there is IM too. GN!
MrPink
ahhhhh, I think I love you. lol. smile.gif

I was just thinkin' about "Break apart messages larger than" which is under........
Tools | Accounts | Properties | Advanced. in OE.

cheers,
Bigrob
MrPink
Baah, I use hotmail but use OE to access my account. Under Tools | Accounts | Properties, there is no Advanced tab. I checked all the tabs and the other accounts tabs (just for kicks) and nothing. Oh well, I guess I will just have to buy a mac, jkjk, but no worries, its not too big of a deal I guess, its just frustrating.

Thanks for trying.

Hey, dunno if this will work, but you've got nothing to lose, right? :

1. Open OE
2. On the Tools menu, click on Accounts.
3. Click on the Mail tab, and then click Properties.

Then, there should be an Advanced tab, click on that, then check the "Break apart messages larger than x KB" setting.

Hope that helps a little.

Post back, so I can know if I need to search a little more?
