I'm leaning heavily towards the 3rd option, it’s the cheapest, and I’ve heard good things about DLP: http://www.dlp.com/

All of them have there advantages over the other ones. I think DLP is very good smile.gif im still waiting for the HDMI thing to be ironed out (I guess HD video from some sorces will only work with some inputs)

Hm, I guess I better figure that out before spending the money. The main reason I'm considering DLP (aside from price) is that my current set has things burned into it from gaming. I am not responsible about this, and I don't want to ruin my brand new exciting set the first time I pass out in front of the TV with my game paused. As far as I'm aware DLP is the only option that prevents burn-in.

How much are you willing to spend, and what size (aprox.) are you looking for?
mossygiraffe
I'm willing to spend around $3,500 and I'm looking for the BIGGEST POSSIBLE TV I CAN AFFORD! smile.gif

I dont know if you have a Costco where you live (retail, warehouse) but they have good prices on lots of electronics (bad customer service, and the selection consists of whatever they have in stock).

We do have a Costco. I don't have a membership. That is a good idea, though, thanks, once I'm ready for my final purchase I'm going to go in there and scan to see if they have what I want. I used to have a membership there, do they still sell gasoline? With the gas prices the way they are it might make sense to re-join.

I went back to yet another store, and it was the most high end place I'd been to yet and the TV's were set up correctly and I felt like I got a better idea of the comparison. I just subjectively prefer DLP. The LCD and Plasma sets have a look to them that's very "digital", they seem to have less contrast and depth of tone. Anyway, one more night to sleep on it and I think I'm gonna go get it.

Where I live, Costco doesent sell gas, but I know many other locations that do. I do the same thing when I buy expencive (well, more than cheep, im financially challanged) electronics, a store here called the Hi-Fi Store, sells top of the line items, where Denon is there bottom range systems (for those who dont know, Denon is CRAZY good quality audio items, recently moved to some video, but mainly audio) and get the great service, ask all the hard questions, then go to some other cheep store with crap for service, but great for prices and get whatever I need. I used to work retail, and hated people like me, Meh...

Anyways if you are into movies, I would definitly get a HD, especially with the blu-Ray coming out in a month or so. Even if you are not into the movies, if you have a budget of $3500, HD is a given.

Well, I bought a TV! This is what I got: http://www.dlp.com/home_entertainment/home...tail.asp?id=853

Defiinitely HD. Definitely DLP. And it makes me real happy. Unfortunately, they didn't have it at Costco, I checked. In fact, I ended up buying it from the most high end place in town... but, I haggled like crazy and got a free bulb thrown in, and it was only $3,100 when all was said and done, and I think that's a fair price. If anyone goes DLP I would suggest the extended warranty if you use it a lot becuase it covers replacement bulbs.
MrPink
Im glad you got something your happy with.

What was the deciding factor that led you to DLP vs. LCD vs. Plasma?
