I use a crack. Two things though: We can't give you the crack (over the boards), and mine doesn't work anymore.

I'm a paying member. I would much appreciate it if you would pay for the software so the guys at trillian.cc would keep developing it.

I personally love Trillian Pro... There are some bugs that I wish they would fix sometime this century... and I too pay to use Trillian Pro, and if I knew that they would never update the prog I wouldnt have.
My recommendation: Get it for free somehow. Your payment is more of a subscription anyways and mine is about to run out and I definetly wont be buying again beacuse of very poor support and never any updates/new features.
And even with the bugs, I prefer Trillian to Gaim anyday, but I have not yet tried Gaim 2.0... Maybe the newest Gaim is better.

I just like a simple interface that only does IM's. I don't need the extra features that Trillian offers, and if I ever need the features I can just download a plugin.

So, is you're argument that GAIM is better than Trillian? or that GAIM has less features and you like that?
Make up your mind. And like I said it's only your opinion.
I'm only trying to get you to admit that this is only your opinion and nothing more.
Because I've used GAIM. I was trying to find something that used less resources. And you know what I found? I found that yea it didn't have anything but the IM feature, and I also found that it used less resources than Trillian, UNTIL you open a message window. Then it uses way more memory than Trillian (even with 10 messaging windows open)
So, get your facts straight before you come in here announcing your opinion as FACT.

First thing, I never said it wasn't just my opinion.
The argument is that I like gaim and believe it is better than trillian because it uses less resources and has less features. They are pretty much the same argument. I like the fact that on my machine GAIM only uses about 15 MB, now of course when I open a window it is going to use more, on my machine it uses about 4.5 MB per message window. The thing is I don't want to waste a lot of memory when I have it on but am not talking to anybody.
Oh and I believe I can say whatever I please be it fact or opinion.

Phil, your initial post in this thread is an unsubstantiated blanket statement insinuating fact, but in reality it is only your opinion and as such that should have been said in the first place as well as reasons for this opinion. That way people can make informed choices based on facts (and opinions) without being mislead, I believe that to be one of this sites objectives.
Personally I've been quite happy with MSN IM as it has nice features that I like to use (and it is free), it does not however allow me to talk to people with different messengers which I believe is one of the main attractions of Trillian. This is only my humble opinion.

And oh, I don't really care how much resources it uses as I rarely talk to more than a couple of people at a time and have never had an issue with resource usage on my pos PC.

I quite like trillian, personally, though my friends and I tend to use Skype, so I have both going all the time. Skype can be a resource hog, though.
As for trillian, I just use the trial version. Never had any problems with it, nor have I ever felt upgrading had a point.

Some time ago, when I was still running Windows, I was using some kind of free Trillian clone: Miranda. You can find it
here. The nice thing about this is that pretty much everything is done with plugins, which means you can have a program that does nothing, or you can have a program that does tabbed message windows, displaying avatars, connect to pretty much every messaging system I know of, and more

I liked it because it's free and it does what I want it to do. The only con for this little baby is that it requires some configuring if you want to use the plugins.
If you like a little challenge to get what you want, try it
