Has anyone seen the teasers for Trail Mix on Animal Planet? A show about country stars and their horses? Next it’ll be Rock Opera heroes and their little yappy dogs. I guess Joe Perry is supposed to be on Trail Mix, so he’s not country. I love TV like this, I wonder if they realize how much of the audience will be watching just because they can't believe that this sort of thing is on TV. Here's a link to it:

Discovery channel is awesome, do sorely miss David Suzuki and 'The Nature of Things' and Nat' Geo.

No cable on this part of the rock.........we read a lot.

Heh, I wish I had more time to read. I read at the gym on the cardio machines, that's always good. I'm afraid I'm too sucked in by crappy and not-so-crappy TV. Trail Mix looks to me like it will be a welcome time sink, nothing like LeAnn Rimes waxing poetic about her horsey.

I was in a Outdoor Ed "Trek" program back when, in highschool, grade 10 with Sarika, David Suzuki's daughter. I wish there was no cable in my home, i watch too much TV, bloody mindless entertainment, and most shows arn't that great,
just....... keep........ staring.........

Yeah, but I think there are some diamonds in the rough. Some things on TV do bring enjoyment and there's nothing wrong with that. I think that watching the horses on Trail Mix will make me happy, I live in a city and even just the open spaces on TV can make me feel good... so, I think you just have to use TV responsibly.

Couldn't you just go camping?

Thank your lucky stars they're not running 'Little House on the Prarie' anymore mossyG, have seen it melt people's brains

Seriously though, I can understand the appeal of these 'adventure outdoor' type shows for peeps stuck in cities, living vicariously through other's adventures can make one lazy though imho.

Yeah, I do go camping! But it's pretty soggy out here now. My favorite camping spot was under 17 feet of water last week! Anyway, I do like the outdoor adventure shows like Trail Mix and I don't think they make me lazy, I think you have to live in a big city to understand. Watching Animal Planet does not take the place of actually interacting with animals and wilderness.

I definitly do live in a city, Vancouver (my home) is the biggest city in Western Canada

Yes, but... sorry to say this, but Vancouver is a very liveable city. You just can't compare it to Los Angeles or San Francisco (the two cities I live in). The Canadians are far better at managing the development of cities than us US folk. Vancouver has much more green space than we do. Not only that, Canadian culture is just different, way different. I've only been to Vancouver a few times, and never for very long, but it ain't no inner city Los Angeles. And that's a *good* thing. When I talk about living in the city, I mean living in an area where there is nothing but city, like, nothing but concrete. There are trees and parks in Vancouver. There are trees and parks in SF and LA too, but not near where I live. So, you get sort of isolated from the world of nature after a while. It takes a good hour drive to be in nature from either SF or LA and that's assuming you have a car, gas, and can afford the bridge tolls, so comments like "why don't you just go camping" to my ears seem a little insensitive to the various financial and residential situations that exist in the world.
That said, I am going to Wyoming in a few weeks to ride horses! So, that's cool, I won't have to get all my horse fun from Trail Mix alone.

in animal planet....are there lots of cute little critters, like hamsters in it? might have to see it
yeah, mossey, gotta live in big city to understand the "animal thingy". this zoo i live in requires a lot of concentration just to get back home (to safety) without killing or being killed.
