OK, i have 2 computers, 1 wireless router, and one of the 2 have a wireless card, both are from d link, BUT for some reason it gets IP address problem, I can't get online, or even get into the router, yet it says i connect to it...any help?

One more thing(well two), What is DHCP? and I know rouhters give you higher ping rate, how do you turn that down? you turn something off or something, i remember hearing or reading something about that.

Have you done a Power Cycle with your modem, router, & computers? This can help out at times. I think most wireless router do have a port you can plug into so you can look inside the router.

DHCP is short for Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol. General home networks use this. Meaning you have a privite internal address that will change everytime unless to set up a static address scheme.

Yes, try the power cycle, if that doesnt work, perhaps try to set your IP address as a static IP rather than dynamic.

Is your network protected with WEP, or WAP, or another type of encryption, also..are both your router, and wireless card 802.11B, or 802.11G, they have to operate on the same frequency.

I found out it was a currupted system file MSI or MUI or M something I....anyways, it just couldn't set up an IP address, i did a system restore and its working.

Best thing to do is to keep DHCP enabled to avoid conflcits with IPs on the network. Unless you keep track of the IPs being used, which in a small home network, that's not going to be a problem.
