Does anyone know of any way to slim down Yahoo Messenger so that it uses less memory? Thanks

I checked around a bit and it seems that if you agree to use their messenger you pretty well take the whole schmear,( which is why I still use MSN mess). They are adding a lot of features now-a-days, drag/drop pic sharing, voice/image chat etc etc. I have not yet found a spot within their users text that will disable anything. sad.gif

I'd Check in to Alternatives such as Trillian or GAIM (which support AIM, YAHOO, MSN, etc)

Found something that helps, open messenger and then just minimize it. The mem usage went from around 25000k to anywhere between 2500-3000k.

Serges2, I installed the minimum. I even went into the registry and program folder and dumped a bunch of extras to no avail.

Hm, you may want to take fixeddamage's advice and try something else then. That's quite a drop in usage btw, but then if you're minimizing it you aren't really using it then are you? What ticks me off about it is that yahell is calling it an 'update', feh, more like updating their own DB with peeps info. but don't really know. I use yahoo as my homepage and have several groups that I muck around in there but have steered clear of their IM system, for some reason I don't trust their security (or something), could just be the feeling I get when I see how crappy their moderation is in their various news forums, dunno, gut reaction I guess. smile.gif
