Ok, I just installed it less then 24 hours ago, i'm about to install a bunch of tweaks, and just get it up to speed(it isn't online yet).
When i start, Before the windows evens opens(so still in DOS mode), i get some things saying vnetsetup.vxd wasn't found, some things were looking for it, either being System.INI, or the registry...now it does this 3 times, once with that, the other 2 with vredir.vxd, and dfs.vxd...now i checked the System.INI and i didn't see anything asking for it, but i didn't know what i was looking for either way...and i don't know what to look for in the registry...
Another problem happens after that right when windows starts i get another error...MSNP32.dll wasn't found because some library couldn't find it, some weird message...anyways it says Microsoft Network won't work because of it...now i am going to have a network soon, but if i don't need it how can i stop it, if i do, how can i fix it?

Should i just go and find and download these files(if i can find them) and put them where they need to go? or is there an easier way?

You could do that hmmm I have to ask is this comp a Compaq or Dell ? with some of the custom hardware they toss in Windows often needs some sort of weird drivers from the manufacturerereres web site smile.gif I had a simular problem when I tried to install a clean install of Win98ME onto my Compaq that came stock with Win 95... It didnt like it very much lol it ran and I was able to DL all the drivers and that fixed most of the errors the others I had to do as you say by finding the files online and manualy installing them.... uugghhh it was a pain but it was worth it my Compaq ran about 20% faster with out all the pre loaded junk they put in... anyway this is all assuming you have some sort of brand name PC... if its a home built custom machine then try to find all the newest Win98 drivers this should fix alot of the missing file errors windows is looking for a driver for some hardware especialy the vxd's (some ME drivers will work some wont so be carefull)
Anyway I hope this helps some lol

Thanks, it's not online yet, but i'll grab the drivers when i can(although the graphics drive killed the PC...burned a disk with some stuff), it was home made, i have to deal with a bunch of "what the hell is this?" "where the hell is that?" and so much trouble for the old piece of junk...i fix the MSNP32.dll, the vnetsetup.vxd, and the vredir.vxd, but turning off the Microsoft Client thingy in Network settings...but i still get the dfs.vxd error...and the way Microsoft said to kill it doesn't work(big shock).

I often think about running an older OS on a newer machine then I cringe when thinking about all the "fun" I had back in the day lol of course I dont mind doing emulation at all as they seem to crash less then the real hardware did back in the day ? (wonder how that is...) For instance I realy wonder what Dos Pacman would look like running on a 3.6Ghz P4 LOL it ran too fast on my 233Mhz P2 hehehehe Windows 98SE would probably run like gang busters but drivers would suck as they stopped making them for the newer hardware and well it would error like mad. Maybe some one who knows can tell me how Virtual Machines get around this like VM Ware ? I know it emulates the hardware but I want more details lol

that's 500 bucks i don't have...it would be nice though....im only a connector and a router setup away from being online!!!!
i'm doing that when i get home.
i will google the files i need and place them where they need to go...or at least that is the plan.
