Is it just me or is anyone else looking forward to this movie? I love John Woo movies except for MI2 but his old HK movies are great and I loved Face Off. The story is by the same guy that wrote Blade Runner and Minority Report. Its out on Christmas day so i may have to run out for 2 hours and check it out smile.gif hope it doesnt dissapoint but i'm looking forward to it.

I saw some previews, and it doesn't look too bad... but I'd need to see more of it...

I'm not a big Ben Affleck fan (besides Good Will Hunting) but I'm sure I'll see it when it comes out on video, it definately wont be on my "spend 7 bucks to see" list (very exclusive).

Bad bad bad ... or maybe i just expected too much. Saw this just a couple of nights ago and I was very disappointed by well just about everything.

John Woo has done some great work in the past mostly in HongKong with older movies but even Face/Off wasn’t bad and if you look at the camera work in MI:2 it wasn’t bad cinematography even though people didn’t like it much.

Paycheck had some terrible FX and the stuff that Woo does best seemed to me worst of all. The action was bad, the explosions looked like they where done on computer alone and the acting/script just wasn’t as great as it could have been.

All around big dissapointment. thumbsdownsmiley.gif

I grew up with HK films...So I've kinda been spoiled with John Woo stuff. No action sequence has really surprised me...

So I wanna ask...How was the story though? When I saw it in commercials...I knew it was a John Woo film...But my mind first asked..."I wonder if the story is any good?"
actz
Well the story is by the same guy that wrote Blade Runner and Minority Report both excellent movies in my opinion so i had high hopes for Paycheck. Now it’s not a bad story it could have been a bit better but i wouldn’t blame it on the story. If you like John Woo HK stuff you'll see what i mean by this being a disaster when compared with some of his earlier work.

Check it out just dont expect much.

Maybe this is a movie that people should wait until the DVD comes out...and then rent it.

Would you recommend that?

hehe ya probably a good idea i'm certainly happy i didnt pay to see it smile.gif

John Woo was a great director. But hes kinda decayed since those times u mentioned Actz. Face Off was a great movie. BUt just the fact that for this movie he chose Ben Affleck amongst other decisions proves hes kinda lost touch and replaces it for just a known face. Id wait as well

not seen here (philippines) yet... thanks for the link...

affleck is the man in kevin smith movies!
Inkman
yes he is. but this is not a kevin smith topic.

I have yet to see it. I still want to even though the reviewz are down sad.gif
actz
yeah i watch almost every film foreign or not even if reviews are bad... hey you never know some people may like this movie. I'm just hoping John Wood pulls through with his next movie "Land of Destiny" another one that i'm looking forward to but my expectations for John Woo have gone way down now so he may surprise me. (please)

If i see one more dove in his movies i'm going to kill myself sad.gif I get the symolic meaning of it but come on Woo it doesnt fit in every movie just throwing in a dove. ahhhhhh such a great director seems to be freefalling at the moment
Deftone
lol...yeah...and not just one..in MI2 theres liek 30 doves! lol ... It did add a cool effect but repetitive
actz
the dove thing worked very well in Face Off the scene in the church but it gets old when it pops up in everyone of his movies... before Paycheck started i was expecting at least one dove i just hoped he put it in with style but it was just thrown in for absolutely no reason at the end thumbsdownsmiley.gif
grr....012
