Texas Chainsaw Massacre

i went and saw it last nite...... and i was wondering if ne1 else has? was it better, worse or same as original?

the best bit was when the woman shot herself in the head and the camera zoomed through the hole........

Saw that the first day it was out and I did enjoy it. I cant remember the first one that well so I wouldnt like to compare them but the remake was well done and I thought the directing was awesome. They had some great camera work in the movie and the preview/trailer that was advertising it was probably one the best i've ever seen.

A bit of truth:
The story is one of the many that are inspired by Ed Gein. He never had a chainsaw and killed mostly women. He lived by himself after the death of his mother, Ed Gein's mother was later blamed for his mental state.

They finally arrested Gain in his farm house and found an about 15 bodies give or take a few. When questioned about the killings he did confess but couldn't remember how many people he had murdered. The true part of the story is that he did wear the skin of the people he murdered and pretended to be his mother.

"After ten years in a mental hospital, Gein was judged competent to stand trial. Although considered fit to stand trial, Eddie was found guilty, but criminally insane. He was first committed to the Central State Hospital at Waupon, and then in 1978 he was moved to the Mendota Mental Health Institute where he died in the geriatric ward in 1984, aged seventy-seven. It is said he was always a model prisoner - gentle, polite and discreet. He died of respiratory and heart failure in 1984."

Sounds like a 'Grade A' movie to me, hmm hmm.
I haven't seen the first one nor was I even aware a first one existed. I have no intentions of seeing this. If I end up seeing any movie it will be Matrix 3, which I still haven't seen! At this rate, I'm sure I'll wait for it to come out on dvd before I watch it. Movies have lost their appeal to me, especially lately.sad.gif
Rezza
hmm... that sounds like the story of Silence of the Lambs.... is the story the same on Texas Chainsaw Massacre? does the pshyco wear skins?
D3m0n
yeah Rezza..........teh life of Ed Gein is what Silence of the Lambs, Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Pysco are all LOOSELY based on.....

Just by D3m0n's description of one part in the movie, could the first one be any more grotesque?
Rezza
urh... should I go to the movies and see the new one or rent out the old one?
.::PHPfanatic::.
I haven't seen the movie yet but I can say with a high probability of being correct, I'm sure, that it will be a waste of your money. It would cheaper to rent the older version.
actz
hmm i would go rent the old one then go to the cinema and check out the new one... like D3mon said Ed Gain inspired movies > Phyco, Silence of the Lambs, TCM and also a movie called Ed Gain among other low budget movies. Its a bit sick that such a crazy guy could inspire so many movies but its the maddeness that makes us all curious i guess.

The shot that D3mon is talking about was well done and if you look at it in a filming point of view its pretty good, of course nobody wants to see heads being blown off.
Rezza
I don't want to blow so much money on it, it's either one or the other... which one is scariest?

the only reason I'm intrested is that I found Silence of the Lambs to be one of the greatest horror movies ever made...
D3m0n
@rezza...............neither are really scary as such..........but the remake is more gory.............

@actz............Ed Gein the movie, wasnt that a musical type movie?
D3m0n
went and saw it again 2nite............. heaps better second time round biggrin.gif
