With the arrival of his new baby, John Carmack (lead programmer for id software) seems to have himself more and more occupied at home, helping his wife out with the tasks at hand. While he has promised that he will finish the next title already being worked on at Id, he doesn't promise to be back after that. His attention has geared more towards rocket ships, as he plays out in a contest where regular ppl try to man a crew into space.

Of course these are somewhat more speculations than anything.
