Hey!
People seem to think we breathe coffee and exhale smoke. I don't smoke or drink coffee, most of the time it's nestea, or pop or something. As for eating, whatever I feel like it, contrary to the Pizza Pocket, fast food trend associated with us. Anyone else's thoughts?

I try not to eat around my computer. I hate cleaning out my keyboard every month because of some food crumbs that fell into it. As far as drinking, I sit here and drink a gallon of Kool-Aid a day (Strawberry or Cherry)
Fast Food is a heavy favorite for me though. Other than fast food, I like country home cooking. I'm from NC, USA so home cooking is necessary for survival down here

I guess its a southern thing

In the US I've been eating cereal next to my computer whenever I'm doing something.
In China I go out to the Muslim Noodle shops and get Muslim bread and Muslim noodles. Those two combined with Chinese Coke are incredibly good... Ooooh, I miss home so much.

Chinese coke??? Do they have it here in HK? I would like to try some.
za105
Aug 23 2004, 05:43 PM
I can't remember if Hong Kong Coke tastes like American Coke or Chinese Coke. Probably American Coke because it's more Western than the rest of China, but then again they could import it from China and then it would be Chinese Coke.
In other words, I don't know.

Whats the difference between Chinese Coke and 'normal' Coke?
za105
Aug 23 2004, 05:51 PM
Chinese Coke has a harder flavor to it. American Coke tastes weak and watered-down, almost as if they're trying to be more like Pepsi. In China there's a very noticable difference between Coke and Pepsi, whereas in the US it's less distinguishable.
Needless to say, American Coke is so-so by my standards, but Chinese Coke is what really makes me worship Coca-Cola as a whole.

What other foods/drinks are like that?....You know food that we both have but one is noticeably different from one another?

Aug 23 2004, 06:12 PM
Chinese food is, of course, entirely different than American Chinese food (as I'm sure you know). The dishes taste different, and there's tons of variety to Chinese food. You wouldn't see my city's specialty of jellyfish and seaworms anywhere in the US.
Pizza Hut pizza and McDonald's fastfood taste different than in the US as well. They may add a lot more grease due to the fact that, not only does it taste better, they don't have to worry about stupid lawsuits like in the US. If you make yourself fat in China, that's your problem.
Actually now that I think of it, McDonald's Coke in China tastes like American Coke. I guess they have to specially make it according to American standards.

Thats pretty weird...I'd like to visit just to see the cultural differences. I, myself, believe that if you make yourself fat then its your problem. Its stupid, all the suing of fast food restaurants going on over here.

Um...Yea...McDonalds in HK does taste different than in Canada....Most noticeable are the fries. I'm assuming it's because in Vancouver they use McCain's fries and in HK they probably don't.
But to say there is a "Chinese" coke and an "American" coke...is weird. If it's coming outta a can or a bottle...I've never tasted variations.
I also find it very interesting that you find Pepsi weak...In Vancouver, which I am aware is in Canada and not the US, Pepsi is known widely to taste sweeter (stronger) than coke.
I will be visiting mainland China in a week or so...I'll definitely make an effort to buy a coke and see if there is a diff. I'll also ask some of my friends who either study or have lived in mainland to see what they think.
Are you sure you're not comparing regular coke (from China) to diet coke (from the US)? j/k I'm just teasing.
za105
Aug 23 2004, 07:38 PM
I mean stronger as in impact, like the difference between different-sized firecrackers. Chinese Coke feels stronger than Pepsi when you're drinking it.
You may not notice the difference between Western Coke and Chinese Coke when you try it though; since all I've drunk is Chinese coke for years, I can tell quite easily, and it may require a lot of experience. All my Coke friends in China can tell the difference between the two as well, so it's not just me.

During a LAN game: 6+ Litres of Mountain Dew
During Normal Times (surfing net, ect...): 2+ Litres of Mountain Dew
During Movies or Series on Computer: 4+ Litres of Mountain Dew and a HUGE bowl of Pasta

That's about it...

Shouldn't I be able to tell the difference because I've been drinking "western" coke for many years?

Oh yea...I removed Tara from avatar because just recently I've been watching Naruto and Rock Lee (my avatar) is an awesome character.
As for what I usually eat and drink by my computer...hm...I just drink what I have in the fridge...Could be coke, could be orange juice...sometimes water. I don't usually eat by my computer...I can't type when I'm eating anyways so I don't feel a need to do so.

The Tara Reid pic must be restored! The fate of the happiness of all of GN depends on it!
I usually don't eat at my PC, nothing more than granola bars usually. Sometimes I'll make a big bowl of pasta (the one's that take 1/3 of the bag, and overflow...yumm...), and some days I'll have those McCain Chocolate Pies.. there good. Same with Ice Cream, some day's I'll just eat litres of it, just one of those food I guess. Drinking - pop, mostly because there's an abundance in my garage.
Some days I will get a plate, and a fork, I know that I'm hungry, but don;t know what I want. Then I'll visit the freezer, and find something..usually Chocolate Pies or Ice Cream.. I could really use some Ice Cream right now... For a while there I would eat a box of cookies, not just a couple, but a box. Whole thing, not even that filliing either, just something to snack on. I sit about 2ft away from my monitor, so Nothing every happens to my keyboard. I eat with one hand, move mouse with the other, rest the plate on my lap. Man, I COULD REALLY USE SOME ICE CREAM.
I read a lot about this Chinese Coke, and there's quite a lot of posts on it. I agree about the water issue. Anyone ever order coke without ICE? You can feel your teeth rot, and roots dissolve.
Edit: I just noticed I can delete my own posts.. Anyone else notice this?
