I like }{ for the H better.
Let's see... One thing they should know is that Jolt is the best computer geek drink. Just something every geek should know. They don't necessarily have to drink Jolt (I personally worship Coke), it's just something they must know if they plan on going full-time geek.

Fun fun.
Other than knowing Hex and Leet, shouldn't every geek know overclocking? Just one thing I can think of right now

By the way "Za", your "word" 6|237}{@7... I think it that the "6|237" part is "Gret"... is that correct?

10 Things to know for a geek... lol thats impossible ! ! ! but if I was forced with a gun pointed at my head my list would be at the bare minimum....
1. Operating system nuances (all OS'es...)
2. Hardware both old and new
3. Networking at least the protocalls....
4. Overclocking (since GTX said so lol)
5. Patching and upgrading
6. Trouble shooting and repair
7. Tweaking at least some basic OS performance tweaks (IN the registry)
8. BIOS Tweaks and firmware upgrades (customers love it)
9. Knowing where to find out something you dont know off hand...
10. Last but not least the names of all the Autobots and the Decepticons from the original show... Also it wouldnt hurt to brush up on StarTrek and Star Gate hmmm basicaly just flip back and forth between cartoon network and SciFi Channel..... (its easy at my house they are Channels 58 and 59 respectivly)

When I was in college, I had a professor who's philosophy was "It's not knowing the material, its knowing where to find it" I adopted his philosophy as my own. So, besides knowing the basic things that M$ Agent #2 said, I'm gonna say that you have to be able to use Google to its full potential.

I remember G.I. Joe! I'm only 18, almost 19, so it wasn't really the most fond of memories.. And transformers, eveyrone's watched that! The original, not the garbage they have on TV now. Remember Hercules.. with that ring.. anyways, back on topic
10 Things a geek should know - far too many to choose from. I would have to say "Everything the user doesn't"

Heheheh first become a super user (some one who knows just enough to mess up a system) then you can become a geek... I remember my first real Windows System lol 233Mhz 64MB of Ram and Windows 95 lol I got myself a VooDoo2 (never got around to getting another one for SLI) anyway my point about that system is this I reformated the drive like 20 times and had to totaly reinstall everything like 20 times too also download all the patches and what not (mind you this is all on a nice fat 56K connection) at the time you could OOB someone and crash there system through port 139 AKA WinNuke lol at that time I knew just enough to be dangerous

I have since evolved and become even more so but at least less to myself LOL

First system was a Tandy Deskmate. Later, a Packard Bell, supporting 25Mhz and 512KB of RAM, along with a whopping 170MB of hard drive space and the brand new Windows 3.1!!
Then we got a Compaq with Windows 98. Alot faster; 300Mhz. And a VooDoo3

The Compaq computer was basically the first thing I started learning on. I taught myself alot of things, and learned more just by watching others.
I guess geeks should know how to read into the user's mind and understand their psychological behavior so that way they know way that user uses a computer and may be able to find vunerabilities in the system that the user has created... or something like that...

"And knowing is half the battle" - G.I. Joe
imho i think a geek should also have at least basic knowledge of electricity + circuits if not an advanced understanding of them...dunno if this is covered by "hardware knowledge" or not. I mean if any electronics in my house break, i can more than likely fix them if it's worth the time and effort over, say, a $150 bill for fixing an amplifier or something.
