Just wondering what image editing solution folks here at GN use. Personally i am a die-hard fan for some Corel Photopaint, and have a potentially unhealthy dislike for Adobe's excuse for a creative application. In particular are Corel's design tools, which are much more geared toward image creation than other apps, although it's effects tools are nothing to joke about either

BTW, this will be my last post ever as a newbie geek...as member #27, i can honestly say i won't miss that title one bit...finally...

Isn't the stigma the top of the female part of a plant, the bit which the pollen sticks to?
Congrats on 100 and i hope that your next 100 is just as good as your first. It also looks like i'll be on 1,000 soon

Other.
Ulead iPhoto Plus version 4. It's a 1996 program that I LOVE using.

Yeh, i've hear that Ulead makes good software, but i didn't realise that you think that its still brilliant after 8 years. Come on, that program must have been designed for Windows 95!

It was. And it's STILL good

Maybe not AS GOOD as today's software... but still good

PS, CAD, MS paint, Pencil, Paper, Scanner and bunches of other things. I love to start clipping a bunch of things out of magazines and then just scanning them into my computer to get all kinds of odd things.

I use Adobe Photoshop to edit and Illustrator to make most graphics.

I started with the MS paint for the first things I did, with my cheapo digital webcam I was running them through Photoshop which still has some good options, last month I got PSP8 but haven't really figured it all out yet as finding time is something I realy have to work on. I've had a Stylo pad for a while but they take a bit of getting use to but I figured when I start do more freehand stuff it'll come in handy even tho it's only 5x6ins you can enlarge your picture and work on sections at atime, also you can use the pen as your mouse and for freehand cropping it has much better control than a regul;ar mouse. I put my first PSP muck about in the wallpaper gallery (sunspots) and only used several of the features, mostly the warp brush which I find to be one of the cooler effects. Its a huge program and I can understand why they do courses in it, I think my next learning curve wil be 3d vectors and the animation programs (my first and only flash (done in PSP6 I think) was a rabbit farting, 8 or so frames, I was so proud of it, my better half deleted it,

) One other thing I'd like to learn is how to scan some of my pen and inks into PSP so I can work on them there, ie. do the coloring in different ways so I have an idea what I should do when I ink them in where there is no turning back. The problem I have right now is getting the resolution right and remembering that I have the origional if I really mess up 'cause it is easy to get attached to a pic if you spend a bunch of time on it so I think saving as you go along is a good idea.

I have Photoshop CS, Paintshop Pro 8 and Ulead PhotoImpact 8, i find uses for all of them but i seem to prefer PhotoImpact over the others.

I switched from Photoshop CS to the Gimp for obvious reasons (HINT : I'm not supposed to talk bout those reasons

). But I'm having some problems with layers... But besides that, it is okay for casual use, maybe even professional. I just need to do search some good tutorials and get used to it.
Just one little thing that I don't like about the Gimp is that you can't press enter to close the dialog boxes that show up every now and then (ie blur, crop, save...)

I just recently installed Adobe Photoshop versions 7 and 8. I'm going to try them out some and basically teach myself how to use them. I have a friend though that's has a Multimedia major and is proficient with Photoshop, so maybe he can teach me a few tricks of the trade

photoshop.....but 7.0 not CS...i find CS just really crappy in terms of interface..and for some reason i cant copy n paste in it.

but dont underestimate the power of MS Paint...a true master would use that

Yeah, it's surprising what you can do with MS Paint if you really know what you're doing...
Hey, who said ALL Microsoft programs are bad?
