Hey anyone read about that PSP that Sony is making ? Its the first portable since the first Gameboy that I thought "Wow thats gonna be cool" Also what feature do you think will make it super cool ?

Personally the wireless multiplayer looks fantastic but im sure Sony will make awesome use of those 2.4 GB UMD disks..... Sony will probably market music video CD's on the damn thing LOL

Here is another short article from IGN at this year's E3 > HERE

Playable games will be on show at the E3 2004 so that will be cool to check out. Apparently it can play mp3's and has LCD panel i dont know seems to be everything i dream of hehe can't wait to check it out at E3 specs look pretty damn impressive say adios to ngage and Tapwave and hello to PSP

I still want to see how this handheld looks like and size compared to the others. I would like to see a decent size HD
Rezza
wait a minute? you can go to E3? I thought you had to be invited, and they only invite you if you are a big whizz gaming journalist/game developer...

lol oops I thought it was more smile.gif was from memory damn looks even better when you say it LOL yeah I can see Sony has won the console market and now seeks to gobble up the portable market too lol I think I want one and I havent even seen it yet hehehehe USB too I wonder if there will be hacks to download.......*thinks evil cheating at video games thoughts* HD ? Actz you want it to have an HD ? that would make it competitive with most of the tablet PC's out.... maybe Sony will make a version of it........ damn my brain just fizzled. The games I hear will look better then PS1 games and almost as good as PS2.

Edit:I have to ask Sony please please put a good controll in it. I probably would own a GBA right now but the controll pad is too small for my hands sad.gif
actz
before you know it we will have a miniXbox out hehe just wait a year and Microsoft will have a nice handheld out

ive got a feeling that this is gonna bomb out like the N-Gage. Portable gaming isnt in right now and i doubt that the PSP could change that
rockman56
actually portable gaming is doing great, i believe the gba is selling quite well, at least here in north america. perhaps where ur from it's not doing quite as well tho...
SuranWrap
I love how the GBA connects to the gamecube and you can add more players!
i hope sony does the same.

Do any of you remember the good old pocket playstation, that you could plug into one of the memory slots of the old playstation? Like you could do something with chocobo's in Final Fantasy. I wish I had onelike that. But I also remember I couldn't buy it, because it was only sold in japan, if I'm right...

uh, i didnt express myself clearly enugh. I meant that portable gaming was doing bad bcuz of the GBA. I mean it rocks and has no real competitors. But apart from the Gameboys, portable gaming isnt really popular and everyone focueses on the GBA. Sony will have some stiff competiton as the GBA will have a huge amount of titles to its name @ the PSP's launch, similar to the prob faced by MS @ the Xbox's launch
psYchotic
I doubt that. Sony did show us a huge amount of great games on the old psx, and the ps2. The PSP will be better than that little crappy GBA, and I think that's gonna make the difference. I think Nintendo will have stiff competition. But we'll see all that once it's released to the world! I can't wait devil.gif

I know a lot of people with Gameboy Colors and GBA's but i don't think that they play on them much. People i ask say they only play them really on holiday, but quite a few of my friends just play on there dad's laptop when on holiday.
——Vampyric——
I have a GB Color.. I don't even play it anymore but I used to play it a lot..
gofikphoenix
Can you actually buy any decent games for GBC anymore?
——Vampyric——
Yes, Yes you can.
gofikphoenix
Okies, in the UK i think in most game stores there isn't a GBC section anymore, i think the release of the PSP will make this even more so.

Portable gaming and dvd players share the same affliction - TINY SCREEN! I mean, who could watch bravehart on one of those things? Yes, lets look at the dots move at each other. It would be like looking at a channel that you don't get on tv, only coloured. Portable gaming I think is a waste of money. The graphics are only PS2, which PC kills anyday, the games you will soon be able to emulate on PC, the controls are meant for 6 year olds (M$ Agent #2 - I agree, my piano gremlin hands can't handle those things). The only advancement since the non-color gameboy is the lithium battery, maybe the wireless. I think the portable gaming industry will die down, and eventually become extinct.
Mun
You know that the PSP will be the most powerful portable gaming device, but did you forget the price tag for such a powerful piece of hardware? Ninty the ruling king of mobile gaming has been able to sell masses of GBC,GBA & GB SP all beacuse they were worht their money. The PSP is alota more denser in power and it will surely leave a hole in your credit card.
M$ Agent #2
Well PSP is going to be $199 and will probably dip down to 179 after the first christmas... Gran Tourismo on the road is going to be reason enough to get one... lol

Anyone else notice that this topic seems to be one that never dies?
