How can I set one up?

To where, everyone has to log in to my network to use the computer. Using a username and password i have control over. restrict their accounts, and log everything that happens.

Im tired of my brother, and the rest of my family members ****ing up my computers by clicking "Yes" on the active X things.

I tell them not to, and they do anyways, they download everything, and install it, even if they dont know what it is. I just want to do this, and get it all done with.

Please help!

Set up user accounts on your computer and set restrictions on the accounts. You could also use a proxy server, but that's something I'm not sure how to set up.

If you need help setting up computer accounts tell me what your OS is and I can walk you through it if you need to.

I know how to setup computer accounts, but that's useless.

I have a network, someone can just plug in a computer to it, and access it, and use my internet.

I want to be able to conrtol who has access. and everything like that.

Ahh... I see what you're saying. I didn't catch that the first time tongue.gif

Depending on the router you have, you should be able to set IP ranges to allow only certain IP address to access the rounter/modem.

If the people you want to keep from accessing the internet use the same computer though, you would have to set up a proxy server that takes all requests to the internet and askes for a username and password.

OR you could set up user accounts on the computer and block all access to the internet.

OR... someone else can post here a give me a hand with this... lol

Hmmm you would need to set up ICS on your machine and use it to run the net through to the other machines.... If you use MS Server 2K or 2K3 or XP Pro (I am not sure XP home has the ability...) I would use google and search for something like "ICS and setting up user rights"

Php, I want to do what u sed, Setup a proxy, and everytime they connect to the internet, they have to login.
My router is
Linksys BEFSR41 with the latest Firmware.

MS Agent, as for your ICS agent, im using Win XP Pro.

I will definetly search on google.

ICS is internet connection Sharing sorry for the acronyms smile.gif hmmm if you set it up where they have to log on to XP you can set it so they have certains rights and even time quata's meaning you can say between 5AM and 7AM they can log on (any times you want of course lol) wich is nice for kids becouse they tend to do things on the computer you wouldnt normaly let them if its late at night smile.gif Something that might be of interest is setting up there machines with user accounts and then stripping there ability to install anything with out the admin password and in this way you could maintain them more trouble free smile.gif For that one you have to go into the accounts set up a user then set it up so they have the internet and what not then where it says "user can install software" lol say no smile.gif im not sure exactly how to do this if pressed im sure I could dig into my machien and give you a run through smile.gif

How often should firmware be updated? (this may be offtopic.gif sad.gif )

Hmmm well it depends on when the company updates it (often not enough in my opinion....) But hey why spend the money to support a product once its sold..... *end sarcasm*
