I own a Sony D-EJ368CK CD player that skips excessively. Is there any way I can repair the player, myself, inexpensively, or would it be cheaper to purchase a new one?

You can try to clean the CD Laser lens, but you need a special Lens Cleaning CD to do that (you can find them in most computer stores). That will clean any dirt and dust off of the lens.

It could be that the lens is scratched... I don't know if that's repairable though...

Make sure it IS the player and not your CDs tongue.gif

The lens IS replacable, but its a very tricky job, itll be cheaper to buy yourself a new one.

Or it could be that the lens is out of alignment I think there are alignment CD's you can download or buy or something and I think what they do is make the lens mechanism slam into the start position for a while. Or I could be thinking about old floppy drives im not sure LOL let me google....

Ahhh here is something might be of interest in helping you fix it smile.gif

Yeah my old VCD player had an alignment problem too. If i tilted it to one side, it played perfectly, else it jammed. If that happens to you, then you know that its out of alignment.
