I clean my computer every 2-3 months I unhook the cables and drag my computer out to the garage and blow out the insides with my shopvac as for performance it actualy can help. A P4 when over heated will underclock itself so if your computer is a little sluggish maybe the heatsink is clogged with dust

Anyway welcome to Geeknewz !!! hmmm on another note Athlons will burn up if over heated so I say its always good to keep your PC as clean as possible

I've only opened up my Dell computer once in the two years that I've had it, heh. When I get a new computer a year or two from now I'll customize it and build it myself, and then maybe I'll clean it out occasionally. I kind of don't like messing with pre-made computers like this Dell one.
Anyways, I spent about a month in a computer shop in Malaysia last summer working on computers; built some computers there. Shouldn't have a problem building one myself when I get it. Mmm... Can't wait.

Yeah my home built systems always feel faster then those OEM systems.... of course using an actual video card and more ram always helps (I never put less then 512MB on a XP system and never less then 256MB on a Win9X system) although latly I have been dreaming of an Athlon 64FX CPU with some DDR2 ram and PCIX ! yeah you always clean the systems you build yourself more then the ones you just buy (my guess is its a pride thing) lol

DDR2 ram... Hmm. Why do I not know what that is? I've heard it mentioned before but for some reason I don't know exactly what it is. Dual Channel? RD?

DDR2 is the next generation of DDR technology. It is designed for greater clock frequency and available bandwidth without increasing power consumption. Don't think it's been released yet.
I have never put the cover on my computer, it's just got the covers missing, I clean it every night, it helps with tempratures..

Right on with the DDR2 thing you can buy it now I think (havent checked but im sure real soon within the next 2-3 weeks) I have seen like 20 motherbourds with support for it and alot of them support both DDR and DDR2 wich is super cool (wich is why im looking at buying more high speed ram now) I can use the new DDR400 in my new system untill I get mo money for that DDR2 action ! lol

DDR stands for Double Data RAM.

heh, sorry anakinsolois but it doesn't stand for "Double Data RAM." That would be redundant if it did because everybody calls it DDR Ram. The correct term is: Double Data Rate.
How is this relevant btw?

Depends on the amount of dirt/dust in the air where the computer is at. I SHOULD clean mine about every 2 weeks... I took my computer apart to take out a hard drive and there was TONS of dust in there...
About the only thing the dust does though is slow down air flow which can cause your system to heat up. If you're overclocked alot this could be a very bad thing in the long run.....
