When I join an online community I usually like to know things about my "partners," one being their musical influences. So what kinds of music do ya'll listen to and what bands in particular?

I listen to a small variety, from metal to soft music.

Metal:
The Agony Scene
Norma Jean
Demon Hunter
Soul Embraced
Living Sacrifice (my friends and I worship LS as gods)

Softer Music:
Blindside
Project 86
P.O.D. (discluding their new album Payable On Death; it was atrocious)
Linkin' Park (Hybrid Theory; I strongly dislike Meteora)
Lifehouse

I listen to a whole lot of soft songs from miscellaneous bands, bands who overall aren't very good in my opinion but have a soft song or two that I particularly like. Although I love to listen to and play a lot of metal (and that's pretty much all my band plays), I like soft music the most.

Staind has wielded the most influence over me during my musical life. I don't listen to them any more except on rare occasions, but I still think their music is awesome.

Limp Bizkit and Eminem I used to like, and I still do somewhat as bands that I never actually listen to; kind of like Staind only I worship Staind and I listen to them occasionally still. LB's "Mission Impossible" soundtrack is awesome (still have that song on my HD), personally my favorite LB song, and I used to like a lot of other stuff by them. Eminem was great too, definitely the best rapper out there.

I did like a few songs from Nickelback and more from Evanescence, but I despise Amy Lee with a passion and secretly wish she would commit suicide to prove her portrayed emotions to be real and not some sellout scheme (no offense).

Can't really relate with the rest of the music, heh. I do have a sort of "eccentric" side to me in terms of music, though. I like classical music (stuff like Beethoven and Bach), jazz, and then a little Enya's nice here and there. I don't usually listen to this stuff, but I do like it, and I've just recently been getting into the jazz arena (specifically Louis Armstrong). My friend and I heard the song that plays in the beginning of Fallout 2, " A Kiss To Build A Dream On" by Louis Armstrong and loved it (my friend being the most hardcore metalhead in our group), so I've been downloading all kinds of stuff. I almost have the complete Louis Armstrong discography downloaded, joy.
