How can I get myself an invite to Gmail. I just recently signed up to google answers and so far no luck but still waiting. I even went to bid on an invite on ebay but was out bid in the last 10seconds.
Anyone have any clues or tricks on how to get an invite?
Who do I have to ummmmm rub to get it?
With all this hype (or is it just me thinking there is hype?) I am scared that by the time I get in there wont be any good available options left. Kinda like signing up for a hotmail account.

Yeah, patience is the key. GMail is coming out with the 1 GB mailboxes in 5 months or so. Yahoo said theyd launch 100 MB mailboxes this June/July

I can't wait for the Yahoo! thing, I'm more excited about that than I am about Gmail, even though Google seemed to reverse the cycle of contracting mailboxes.

I think theyll probably launch Yahoo! Messenger 6 along with the 100 MB mailboxes at the same time, which will get a lot of users to their side. For those fo you who want the Y!6 beta (which is quite stable btw) go to
http://messenger.yahoo.com/ and click on 'Preview the all New Yahoo Messenger". After downloading the web installer (200 KB), the main download comes to around 4.5 MB

Oh yeah, Y! 6.0 is definately the best IM I've ever used, coupled with 100MBs and I"m packing my bags and moving back to Yahoo!

Even so, I'm not ever going to touch Yahoo again. It seems to.... I think, "sophisticated" for me (I THINK that's the word I'm looking for...)... basically there is too much too it and it seems to cause more problems than are needed.
Edit: Well, It's not that Yahoo Messenger is complicated or anything, it's just there is WAY too much to it. I use MSN because of it's simplicity.
Edit Edit: I know that 100MB of E-Mail space is nice... but I've never seen that much used except by people who either work for a big company and get alot of E-Mails from their boss or co-worker, or have their own company. Either way, most of those people use a 3rd-Party program to accept E-Mails directly onto their own computer for more security. thus having E-Mail storage space limited only by hard drive space, which is WAY more than any E-Mail provider can provide.

yes, but using a 3rd party program never lets you read the same emails over different computers, and I hate 3rd party progs, they are complicated, not Yahoo!
I suggest you give Y! 6.0 a spin, I used to hold the same opinion as you but I've changed my mind now.

Well, For starters these are the new features:
1.) Its got free SMS to most cellphone providers worldwide, without them having to activate cellular online. For all puposes free SMS
2.) It has a built in Launchcast radio player, and if u listen to it, it changes your status msg to the name of the song
3.) Yahoo has finally launched avatar suppoort and have their custom avatar builders too. If you use a Yahoo! custom avatar, then typing lol would make your character laugh. You can also customize hair, clothes an the like.
4.) New interface, skin support, and a better address book manager are some other features.
5.) It also has Net2Phone support, but i think thats a pay feature
6.) It has multiplayer game support, you can challenge your friend to games of chess, checkers, word racer and many more.
7.) It still has the IMvironments from Y! 5. THose are like custom chat pages, which are really awesome
8.) New stealth setting can allow you to show your status as online to some and offline to others
9.) And the most used feature : audibles. While chatting, you can load the audibles menu and drop one into the chat window. Audibles are animated images which make sound. For example, one is a giant who says "Hello! I know youre i can seeee you". Theyre really great
10.) Theyve added 10 smileys and all smilies are animated now..
I dont work for Yahoo. Honest
