Andy Kaufman back from the 'grave?'

Andy Kaufman died of lung cancer on May 16, 1984, but according to legend, the eccentric comedian said if he were faking, he'd resurface 20 years later to the day.

So, just in case, a party is being planned by Bob Zmuda, Kaufman's best friend and partner, at the House of Blues in Los Angeles on May 16.

"Over 100 personal ads will be taken out across the country and abroad, reminding him of his words. Will he show?" Zmuda asked on the Web site for Comic Relief, a series of shows that raise money for health care for the homeless. Zmuda founded Comic Relief after Kaufman's death.

*NOTE TO MODS* even though Andy Kaufman was an entertainer I felt this should be put in chit chat to allow discussion on the fact that someone is throwing a party for a someone who is more than likely dead (though if you've ever seen Andy perform then you have your doubts like I do) and on their opinions on throwing a party for a wonderful legend. Im pretty sure he died even in the 80's tech was good enough to tell if some one died... now Elvis on the other hand LOL just kidding good comedian but dead too sad realy. The cure to cancer and so many other illnesses is so close the genetisists can taste it im sure. Faster computers and better software and better tagging of DNA will help so many things in life...

Yeah, but imagine a world where theres a cure for everything, and people can live really long. Not to sound uncompassionate or anything, but over population would be a HUGE problem

thats why some belive their is a cure to cancer and aids but they rather not release it to the public but that wouldnt make sense would it?

He is dead but I think this party is a nice way for his close friends to remember him.

Well, it seems he's dead, cause May 16th is passed now. But I do concur that he was a great comedian taken away to soon. I think I'll go listen to some R.E.M. now.
