About a month(?) ago, I put to use my wireless router. Although, none of my computers are taking advantage of the wireless networking yet...It's just nice to have. Anyhow, ever since I put in this router I have been unable to receive files through ICQ. I can send but I can't receive. I'm sure all I have to do is open some ports in my router and then the problem should be fixed. However, I don't know which ports ICQ uses to send files. Anyone know?

TweakXP trickYou should go into the icq settings and see what ports it's using, and then open the ports in your router

Yeah I think you can even specify what ports ICQ uses although im not sure (I know in Emule you can tell it what ports you want to use) hmmmm any port in a storm thats what the sailors tell me although im still not quite sure what they are talking about...... LOL

Well I set ICQ to a port and then I went into my router and opened that port...It didn't work.

Do you have a firewall running? Maybe you should open the port in that firewall as well.

Nope. No firewall running. Not even the XP one.

Dude i had the same problem
You need to add port 5190 both for TCP and UDP and it should work out.

In your routers settings, forward the port ICQ is using to your internal IP address... should sort it. Otherwise, chances are , the guy who is sending you the file is behind a firewall aswell, in which case you need to completely open the PORT on your firewall. But doing the port forwarding should work.
(I assume by your previous answer you are now aware of which port it is using for file transfers.)

I just solved this problem for my friend (I was trying to send him some files) anyway the way we fixed it was updateing to the latest firmware. Thats the only thing he did and magicaly it worked.
